Did you do these on or off the truck? I want to do this as well, but not sure if I want to derp or wrap in vinyl.

Well shit. Normally I get excited to post here about what cool stuff what I did to my truck. But today...I broke some shit. 110% stupid rookie mistakes on me.

    Did manage the following though:
Installed 1 king coilover shock (driver). Total time...6.5hrs.

I had never done suspension except for the rear kings I did last weekend. And someone told me those were harder. BULLSHITE I SAY! I am (still am) determined to do as much as I can to my truck myself so I can learn it. (I am getting the alignment done professionally though. Not ready for that). I checked some videos, looked at the directions and went to work...here's what happened. It's a long read.

I got the Bilstein shock off mostly fine (except problem #1, but I didn't discover it until putting everything back together. But getting the king shock on was another story.

    Problems started almost immediately.

#1 Banged away on the castlenut that the tierod attaches to. I thought I was smart by unscrewing the nut and leaving it on the end of the bolt to make a base for the hammer/mallet. But instead I ended up mushrooming the castlenut a wee bit and couldn't get it all the way back on. Shop didn't have a tap&die set either for the size I needed so...took my cordless impact gun and that gave me enough force fast enough to get it back on and the codder pin in upon reassembly. Now I know to hit the side, not the bolt to loosen the castle nut/bolt.

#2 Got the shock into the top position but had a helluva time getting the bottom of the shock into the cradle on the LCA. I lifted the truck up higher to bring the LCA down more but it kept springing back and I couldn't quite get the last inch I needed. I got a crowbar to try and get some leverage but couldn't find a decent spot to grab onto. So then I had this bright idea. I'll screw on a lugnut to my wheel, leave the socket in, and put a breaker bar on the end so I can sit on it to bring it down. Hands free! Well, I was not fat enough to get it low enough, so I found a 230-250lb guy and he helped me by pushing down on it with some force. This led to my lug getting bent out of shape, but I was able to bend it back. However the ease with which I bent it back, makes me question it's integrity. A lot.
And after all that, still no dice on the cradle. Big guy helped me again to get it seated with pure muscle. Used the punch, a prybar, and more muscle to get the screw thru. In the process of all that though the grease started leaking out from the tierod (pic 1) and the swaybar link (pic 2), Specifically where the boot meets the metal. It doesn't look torn though, so maybe it's savable? I pulled on them at their max angles to get them out of the way and a fair amount came out. The boots are clearly not as full as they used to be...but they're not torn. Any way to save them, refill them? oh and we snapped the abs sensor too apparently... (pic 3)

#3 Somehow I cross threaded the two bolts for the resavoir bracket and ended up crossthreading BOTH bolt holes...how tf I managed that is still a mystery to me. But I did have a tap&die for that. And once I got that done I was able to get the rest of it mounted and everything else back on.

    1. A new ABS sensor
    2. A new tie rod end
    3. A new swaybar link
    4. Something probably needs to be done about that weakened wheel lug. Not sure what though. Any thoughts are welcome.

You think this is a good list? Anything else I need to add to it? Other than a new brain? Wish I had more photos, but I was mostly busy cursing.

TL,DR did stuff, broke stuff, fixed stuff, need to order stuff to fix more stuff I broke. Am I ordering the right stuff?

Also, for those who are going to say "hurrr you could've taken it to a shop for less than the parts you're going to have to order now and both of the coilovers would be done by now olololol" I'd gladly pay the extra for the knowledge I gained. and the blood, sweat, and tears of my own labor is a satisfaction I enjoy.

Installed Depo headlights. Kind of disappointed that they still have some chrome. That chrome ring around the low beams kills me. Might try and blackout the factory ones.

    Fog lights are next.

Took 2 free Harbor Freight LED's & mounted them on the bed rails under my tonneau with T-nuts I got of eBay. They had a magnet on the backside I took out & drilled for the 3/8" X 3/4" bolts I used. Easy mod & 3 AAA batteries included

Added some function to my non-functional hood scoop by adding a light bar. It's not a ton of light but I like the idea of adding some extra lighting without altering the look of the truck.
