What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Found a spot for my new compressor the old $15.00 pos took 10 minutes to fill a tire from 15psi to 35psi. The

Smittybilt 2781 with 5.6cfm 1-1/2 minutes...f#ck me needed it sooner. Fits right behind the rear set on the driver side beautifully along with all the accessories.

I love the idea to add a front camera to my truck. Do you know if the interface and switch work in the 2012 model as well? The site only lists 2014-2019 models.

 

Great idea (@Kidwidataco) to have a ground buss bar for all the added lights, winch and compressor. Torn between the 100 amp (four pole) and the 250 amp (six pole) bars. With a high winch load, do you EE’s in the crowd have recommendations? My plane has 275 amp current limiters but that’s for direct voltage across busses for redundant generator power with a loss of a generator. Am I being overly cautious with the 250 amp bar? Thoughts?

 

you should take it out and try to lower your spare some time and see how it works. don't wait until your stuck on the side of the highway on a cold night like I did.

 

I regularly lower my spare to ensure it’s not a nest for wasps, neighborhood cats and isn’t flatter than a street walkers chest rack. I also carry a 6 ton bottle jack with all the extensions and large base plate which works great with my 3.5” lift. That baby factory jack hasn’t been out of its cradle since it left the production line.

 

nice! I should look into that myself. should have also mentioned the factory one will lift the rear up to get the flat off but not enough to get the spare on. 2" lift on the rear. I was lucky to have a scrap board in the truck to put under it but had to put the flat back on.

 

Haven’t had an issue running out of chain to get the spare down to level ground, but haven’t tried since my second lift which took it to 3.5”. I’ll give it a try when I get home for deployment and see. I’ve also been looking at swing out 2” receiver spare mounts for when I’m off road so I don’t get stuck with a spare buried and inaccessible. The swing outs are a bit costly though, but if I decide to put 285/70r17s on I’m not going to want to retrieve an 85 pound spare from under the bed regardless of what surface I’m on! Currently running stock size (265/65r17) BFG KO2s on Method Double Standards @ 83 pounds a piece with factory spare underneath.
