Only thing that catches ones eye is an "06" with less than 100K, other than that just another Taco. Sure not nothing killer about the price, can find later models available for $13K

I picked up my 09 DCSB with 150K on it for the same price, and the frame was replaced a month before I got it, along with other parts by the dealer.

With a new frame you could not have gone wrong.

    Why not an 06?

Im looking at 2nd gen Tacomas right now. In the Southwest, where there are no salt issues.

I am guessing solely the age. Toyota makes a great vehicle. There are not major difference amoung the 2nd gen variants so I say buy what you like and can afford.

Anytime there's a post about an '05/'06 tacoma for sale, there's always those that chime in about avoiding them due to head gasket issues. There are numerous posts and polls here on TW. There are many of us members that actually own them who have not experienced this issue. Head gasket issues can occur on any year model if proper maintenance is not done. I would pull the trigger on my truck many times over again if someone warned me about the so called head gasket issue when I bought about 8 yrs ago.

He said "06, no thanks". Did he mean no to any 06 Taco, or did he mean no to an 06 Taco for $13,000

Picked my up my 07 regular cab base for $4700. That seems higher than what I’d want to spend too

My first Tacoma was an 06 with 106k on it, had it for 3 years then developed the dreaded head gasket issue,I sold it off too a gear head that was willing to put $3-$4000.00 in it to fix it.
05-06 never again for me.So why take a chance when you can buy an 07 and up and have no worries, that's why.

My 06 was made in March of 06,and its head gasket failed at 130k.
