So the stock sound system lacks.. time to fix that.

First off I did try the kicker upgrade that is so insanely popular on here and will say this, compared to the stock system a marked improvement, but I admit it's missing way too much. Behold stage one of way to may to freaking count.

    Step one (mid April):

    Subaru H631SFJ101 tweeters
    Kicker 43CSC6934 6x9's
    Kicker 43CSC674 6.75's
    Mounting brackets and adapters
While I was in the doors I added sound deadening material to help with the clarity.

Come the end of May I am completely convinced that drastic measures must be taken.

    The new system consists of:
Pioneer AVH-2550NEX (Toyota we need Android auto already!!)
    Alpine PDX-V9 5ch amp
    Alpine RUX-Knob
Maestro ADSMRR (spend the money totally worth it to retain steering wheel controls and vehicle interface)
Maestro HRN-RR-TO2 (makes system hook to vehicle wiring)
Access AX-TOYUSB (retains USB connection in dash no ugly cables all over, plus... Android auto)
    Scosche LSAAB (antenna adapter)
Alpine X-S65 Co-Aux speakers for the rear
Alpine X-S69C Component front door speakers
    JL-Audio XD-CLRAIC4-18
    JL-Audio XD-CLRAIC2-18
    JL-Audio XD-PCS4-1B
2x Alpine SWT-10S4 (finally some freaking bass)
Custom 10" Sealed Box (did I say finally some effing bass in this truck!!!)
And finally enough sound deadening material to do the ENTIRE truck.

I paid $6,000 for the audio upgrade. It sounds amazing!

I've got 6k just in the gun safe itself to the wall behind that picture, save your pennies, don't have kids, and pay bills on time. It sounds amazing!

I think it all depends on your music tastes. I did the kicker tweeter and door speaker upgrade as well. I listen to rock and it sounds good to me, way better than stock. But if you like bass it does lack a little. My hearing sucks and I don’t listen to rap so lack of bass doesn’t bother me.

I used JL in my last Tacoma, going to try the Kicker route this time. Just adding the sound deadener material has helped a noticeable amount. Can't wait to see how the new speakers sound when they go in.
