I'd be hard pressed to buy another American vehicle. There are some that are intriguing, but the quality is so hit or miss.

Working on my vehicles is cathartic for me. Kind of a meditative activity.

I won't even touch a Nissan, they're so mingled in with the French now they they've learned more about cutting corners vs. making a decent product. Nissan is like the FCA of Japan these days.

That's a good point, but I think that will change.

Have you been following the saga of their ex-CEO? Holy crap. Talk about a corrupt bastard.

I don't LIKE wrenching, I do it because $100/hr labor is about the cheapest shop you'll find. And often they don't take care of the small details. Have a muffler ready to go in now, Midas quoted me $595 for a $110 muffler. I can't weld it in, but I can clamp it in with a layer of muffler tape underneath the clamps.

I like the looks of the Colorado but until Toyotas start letting me down, I'm sticking with them.

I test drove the ZR2.... loved how it drove (power seats are a plus for a shorty) but always wanted Tacoma so went with my first choice

What do you think about the Tacoma? Besides the fact that it looks good.

That does suck but I've gotten use to it. My wife drives it maybe 3 times a year and she doesn't have to change the position so it pretty much stays in the same spot.

    Mostly miss, unfortunately.
The only one of the Big Three I'd consider any more is Ford.

That's exactly right. Their quality isn't anywhere near what it was 20 years ago before the merger.

Why would it change? Serious question.

Yes, Carlos Ghosn, what a vampire.
He came into Nissan and turned things upside-down.

He put the squeeze on Nissan's suppliers and disrupted the traditional Japanese business relationships...
...and gets cheaper parts. Who would have guessed?
Put the squeeze on the workers, lowered morale...
...and the workers have to do more and earn less. Quality suffers. Who knew?

    And he's a high-flying thief as well.
    But that's by-the-by...
...the point is that Nissan used to be considered nearly on a par with Toyota for quality.
    No more.

The parallels with GM and Fiat-Chrysler are striking.
Cheap parts, lousy quality control, low worker loyalty.

I'd buy an older Nissan Maxima.
