Passenger side rear shock mount broke loose, and the tail section is tender on driver side where the hitch was removed, but otherwise looks really clean, one hole in bed on pass side, rockers and tailgate everything is clean except the rear bumper.
But 301100miles seems to run fine except burning oil smell and obvious leaky valve covers... Is it worth 1500$ + time and parts, assuming I'll swap a motor/trans in hopefully way down the road, or would I be better spending 3/5000$?
Also this is one of the closer ones not including dealerships

Welcome to TW. I am not sure the current truck is worth salvaging at this point.

If this truck is not repairable no truck is repairable, I've already rough priced parts...
Did I mention I'll do 90% of the work myself?

I've been looking at newer lower mileage trucks with more frame rot and body rot than this. And the asking is 1500 he has an offer of 1000$ and is negotiable on price

Post some Pics, that would help sort it out.
If your frame is toast. If The engine is toast, if suspension is toast etc.... then I don't know what to say.... I am sure its repairable, but at what cost of time and money. How valuable is your time and will you be tearing it apart the next weekend chasing demons that weren't there before.

And oviously I'm not planning to get a million miles for that kind of money. But camparitively speaking pricewise I'm torn... And I want a 5sp but that makes it harder to find

If I wanted something that was toast with a little oil leak I wouldn't be looking at Toyota, lol I feel confident that the frame could be patched and inspected in a weekend.
I know 300 is high but toast??

Where the mount is attached to frame tore upward, no obvious holes anywhere. I would be comfortable with a 12" strip of new metal, sticker guy may want more tho...

Take a hammer and start hitting the frame rails everywhere.

You don't buy a truck for its fucking fenders!
    2.5" lift w/35's
If you want to keep adding oil to the engine due to it burning oil, it might still run for a while. Won't have normal power, that thing is worn out. If you can, buy a little lower milage truck or if the frame is good on that one, rebuild or replace the engine/ trans asap. 1500 is a good price assuming the frame is not about to break in half

I'm sure the mechanics that put this up on the lift thought the frame looked "really clean" too.
