It’s a RockyMounts monorail. It looks a lot higher due to the steep driveway, but it has good departure angle!

    Stuff. Also things.
Anybody have a best guess as to how much an extended cab bed weighs?

I’m about to jump into my rear shock relocation and I don’t really have any bros nearby to help me lift the bed off the frame. I might pick up an engine hoist to do it, but I’d rather not if I don’t have to. Anyway, just trying to get a feel for what I’ll be dealing with.

Well, after a couple years of running a bed rack and RTT, the cracks in the bed were a testament to the abuse the truck has been through. So, time to try to fix up the body panels and make a few modifications to the bed rack so the cracks don't come back. Hopefully.

And boy, sheet metal welding sucks. Kudos to the guys who do it for a living!

I'd guess about 300 lbs. Two guys can lift it reasonably easily, it's just a bit unwieldy getting it over the fill tube.

Yikes, I'm always afraid of the day I eventually discover cracks in my bed from my bed rack/tent.

I'm simply running a low profile Avid bed rack which is just two bars with a basket in between...works great for my smallish 2 person RTT but I wonder if the lack of multiple spread out mounting points is going to speed up the damage process. Haven't noticed anything bad yet. I don't do a lot of high speed stuff but I do get pretty flexy in 4lo quite often.

I do think if anything fails 'first' it will be the thin metal of the bed rails where it was drilled to mount the rack. Feels so thin and brittle.

    yes. It will.

This is why I always recommend a front bar like he added.

Yeah sounds like the only real solution.

Going to be needing a bigger tent setup in the future anyhow, so I'll prioritize finding a better bed rack system first. @turbodb I might be hitting you up in the not so distant future haha.
