There are two 19mm bolts you can undo on the bottom of the spindle, that will let the arm drop easily.

I don't have a 1st Gen but the rear has been a noticable smoother since installing the 2.0's RR. I did 2.5's in the front last year to level but wanted to add some rake back so I upgraded the rear shocks and added an AAL a couple of week ago. I am very happy with the result.

Edit: You can also hit up @*TRD* and @AccuTune Offroad since they do custom valving depending on set up/needs.

Fox’s tuning changes between part numbers (lift and reservoir variations) and some are extremely stiff. @AccuTune Offroad revalves all of them to suite your setup (weight) and terrain.

    OME Dakar rear leafs.

Replaced the leaf springs at the same time I replaced my front and rear shocks.

Again, what I was expecting after installation was a nice improvement up front, with a half-way as much improvement in the rear.

What I actually got was the nice improvement up front, and an absolutely solid rear end that wouldn't compress much at all. This was with OME Dakar leafs (new), Fox 2.5 CO front (new), and Fox 2.0 universal rear (new).

I ordered rear 5100's because they're way too affordable to buy to "try" and test my theory. Sure enough, the 5100's made the rear end feel way better.

I figured that out the hard way even though I called Fox and asked them about the tuning on their factory replacement vs their universal shock replacement.

Mine is a universal shock yet they told me both are tuned the same.

I had the 2.0 reservoir in the rear that was very stiff and didn't care for the ride. I stepped up to the extended travel 2.5 DSC shock tuned by @AccuTune Offroad and it was a night and day difference! Very plush ride!

I don't have much personal experience regarding what you're experiencing but I've read enough to catch this common trend - shocks aimed for off-road performance will yield small gains on-road. It's off-road where you can really feel the difference between "good" shocks to "custom/much better" shocks.

Have you gone off-road with your newly tuned shocks?

Keith, I recommend contacting our sales team (Sales@AccuTuneOFFROAD.com) so they can review everything going on with your suspension. In the other thread you mentioned air bags, which are always a red flag.

You may also have load range D tires, too much lift, bad rear spring setup, list goes on. Best to email us so we can go step by step and figure it out, could be multiple problems. Thanks!

It's not the air bags. I've had them for the last 5 years and it seems to be more the front end that is the issue. Plus the bags only have 10psi in them and I'm using they daystar cradles so no limitation on down travel. Rear springs have been the same for years also. Tires are "P285/70R17, so not load D. I specifically always stay away from heavy tires. Also, this size tire has been on the truck for many years. It's gotten gradually worse in the last couple of years and changing to all new shocks didn't help much. I'm not saying its the shocks or the tuning but I expected much more of a difference. So no thoughts on the LCA bushings and ball joints? They are also original - 10 years old with 184k miles.

Very well could be LCA bushings, sometimes even though they are worn out, it's difficult to get movement out of them by hand. When was the last time you had it aligned?

Lifetime alignment with Firestone so about once or twice a year whenever I am there for anything.

I'm not saying those things would not be the culprit if they applied but in my case, P tires, very common 2" lift on coilovers and AAL with OE springs. Nothing suddenly changed resulting in rough ride (no new tires, or lift). It was gradual over the course of years so something just got old and worn out. I thought it was old shocks but those were swapped out along with TC UCA bushings and uniball and still rough even with tuning to my specific situation via Accutune. So it's something else that's worn out. I'm guessing bushings in LCA or LCA ball joint. Was just looking for other suggestions where to look and how to diagnose without spending money on parts that may not be bad.

@abqnurse80 has a post on here with a similar problem. His ended up being the LCAs. New LCAs fixed his issue. Hopefully he will chime in.

Just installed Fox 2.0's on all 4 and rxt leafs. Quick question for you guys. Are you torquing the rear shock stem bolt nut or going by the instructions stating "tighten until 5/8" of total stem is showing"?
