here goes my story, i had a 2014 Benz CLA250, super fun to drive and agile, but we needed a truck, i sold it (still regret it)
i got a 2017 TRD SPORT 2x4 then 4 months later, i realized, i should have got the 4x4 since i like to play with Dirt. i Sold the 2x4, only lost $2000 which is really about the california tax i paid (10%) and i bought a 2018 TRD OFF 4x4, 4 months later, i was bored of it since it was slow and needed something to drive. so i sold it, like like $3000 roughly... which also about the taxes in california and i got a 2018 BMW M2 6 speed manual. Super fun and loving it.
but however, i still need a truck for trips, camping and such ... so i was f. it and i bought a 2019 TRD OR 4x4 and i kept the M2. so :D so now i got both toys to play with hehe..
it's a lot of money for cars but... it's also ONE life.

Just corrected my typos haha. But yea... day to day I miss having a zippier vehicle. Even now I regret reading in my 15’ Civic Si. Shoulda kept it and then saved a little more for the Taco. Hindsight is 20/20 grr

You are going to see a LOT more used Tacomas in a few years. They sold 78K in the first quarter!!!

People who are blindly "Toyota For LIfe" will always give Toyota a pass. They are true fanbois of the brand. Those of us that had a few Tacomas and still decided to buy another brand are not beholden to any brand putting out mediocre vehicles "because they have a fan base that will buy and defend ANYTHING" they make..When I stroke a check for a vehicle I demand upgraded tech and drivetrains. They ALL have to WORK for my bread.

IF my 2016 Tacoma was as good as my Ranger, I'd still have it. I became extremely disappointed with Tacoma still being a mediocre truck when the competition blows it away on so many metrics.

Toyota does not have to upgrade anything and they will sell all the Tacomas they make. In a few years, there will be a whole lot of Tacomas used on lots which will bring that stellar resale down quite a built.

If you love your Ford great. Go drive the hell out of it an enjoy life.

I don't think the resale value of the Tacoma is going to come crashing down as you say. Just not seeing it.

Call me names if you'd like but Tacoma's hold their value and will continue to do so.

As long as the market is strong and can absorb the extra vehicles (which it has since the 3rd gens became available in late 2015), we won't see a diminished value. That combined with Toyota's history of very little rebates on new cars keeps the prices up. While some of the trucks attributes are discouraging to some, the reliability is still there.

I loved my ‘17 Outback but ultimately wanted a truck again. I was actually sad seeing it go because it’s probably the best overall vehicle I’ve ever owned.

But you’re not dumping a yard of mulch in the back of a wagon.

Resale on the Tacoma will always be great, regardless of what consumer reports, J.D power or Edmunds says, the Toyota has built their company around reliability.

People will put up with the minuscule problems if it means they can get in their vehicle everyday for the next 20 years with regular maintenance and know the vehicle will start, drive and (if you’re buying a truck) do the work they expect it to do.

My opinion solely. But also consider the aftermarket. People like to modify and when a vehicle has this much aftermarket possibilities it’s tough to not want to pick one up, and was one of the three main reasons I went with one over a ranger or Colorado.

Not a chance. In years to come they will still fetch top dollar and be on the road. Do a quick search of what older tacos are brining with 200-300k on the clock and look at any other brand if you can actually find them with that amount of miles. Toyota wins every single time.

I miss the giant cupholders in my 2007 DCSB, I could fit a nalgene in them and it was great

Vermont has tax credit on vehicles, power sports, trailers etc anything with a license plate. You can use it trading, private sale and you have 3 months to apply for tax credit after initial purchase.

@Bowhuntercoop 100%. I just bought my 2015 trd off road 4x4 OR with 50k miles for $25k. Someone recently offered me 30k for it. Goodluck finding a 2nd gen with low miles and in mint condition. The 3rd gens will probably yield a good resale value in years to come unless the next Tacoma is electric or hybrid and outperforms the previous models, which I highly doubt. More and more emissions regulations means next gens keep getting stricter and stricter.

I got 24.5k for a trade last August for my 2013 with 70k on the clock. The dealer sold it for 29. I paid 28 for it brand new in 2013. Crazy the resale value of them.
