2.5 x 12". IMO, a 14" is only good if you can stuff it in without limiting up travel due to the longer shock body. The Archive kit is the only option that I am aware of because Eric used plate which puts the upper shock mount as high as physically possible.

Plus, my leafs only cycle 12.75 +/-" with Hammer Hangers so a 14" isn't necessary.

Been thinking of doing limit straps myself but hasn't been a priority and my rear suspension has worked so far. Should probably do it sooner than later.

 

Thanks. I spent a lot of time doing my relocation and cycling to see what would work. I've now done a few Archive installs too so I have a much better understanding than when I started.

I have not done a TC kit yet. Been very interested in them though. I am actually working on scheduling another forum member to install his TC relocation with a 2.5 x 12" King but he's keeping it SOA.

The hoops? Is it a Trail Gear kit or custom that you're running with the TC SUA?

I'm a huge fan of TC products. They have some of the best fitment across the board. Can be a little difficult to work with as far as getting parts but in an industry full of knock offs, I understand why.

 

I figure it’s a fairly inexpensive insurance for some expensive shocks.

 

Gotcha. Why'd you sell the TC hoops?

Yes, I agree. I set my lower mount to not have the shock be the limiting factory originally but I just went to a 1" shorter eyelet so now they are at droop. Hasn't been an issue yet but it's only a matter of time.

 

I set mine so there’s 1/2” of shock shaft remaining while at full droop in the driveway, but I figure it’s easy to push the leafs past that when on the trail in real world conditions.

Your setup looks great! Glad you got it all worked out and you're happy with it.

 

No doubt. It's difficult/impossible to replicated having the tire weight and inertia when setting up the shocks.

 

That’s also why I was conservative with my straps. I have 14” ones and with them adjusted so they’re as long as they can be, I have 1-5/8” shock remaining. That gives me a very safe cushion so I don’t need to worry about anything

 

I asked because I imagine the extended shock will extend a little further with the other side compressed since your limit strap pivot is inboard of the ubolts.

Yes but he gave himself a generous safety cushion as stated above so he shouldn't have any issues. Even when the straps stretch.

 

That makes sense, and I could see that happening. I did give myself a large safety cushion of 1-5/8” with the straps so I think it’ll be alright. If I do end up hitting the shocks travel limits there will at least be less stress than no straps at all.

 

I see what you’re saying now. It would be interesting to see how the geometry worked out.
