Cool. I think I’m going to leave the aluminum raw. I just measured and need two 92.5” x 16.5” sheets. Going to be expensive

I commend your DIY get er done style. But I’d strongly suggest using jack stands. Better safe than sorry.

6 Ton pair at Harbor Freight for $36. Killer investment, and they're tall enough to use on lifted trucks.

Might have to visit harbor freight!

Also do I need to cut 2.5 in the rear fenders as well?

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Holy Hell Steve! Go get those puppies so we don’t have to visit you in the hospital.

The low profile one is a few bucks more, and totally worth it. It extends to be a few inches taller than this one and there is a cross brace that they sell that is basically like adding a 2x4 in height, distributes the weight and can add an additional 5" on either side. I think it's about $35 after the 20% off coupon and worth ever penny for working on the lifted Tacoma. I think they do a coupon for it where it goes down to either $79 or $85. Here is the cross brace:

Question for local TW folks. I recently upgraded to 17" Sema rims with 265/70/17 Falken WP. I didn't account for the spare but I've found a rim locally. Two questions.

Will this wheel/tire setup work for spare storage under the truck?
Do I need to match the tire for a spare or can i get any 265/70/17 off road? (I'm assuming that this is the case)
I'd prefer not to have to buy new tire just for a spare.

Thanks in advance for any advice that you can share.

Yes that tire/wheel combo will fit in the stock spare configuration under the truck.

If you only plan to use your spare as a spare. Most any tire will suffice. If you plan to run a 5 tire/wheel rotation, you’d want everything to match.

I’m running 265/70/17 Falkens, and have a 265/70/17 BFG ko3 in the spare location.

@backcountryj -Thank you for the quick response. The spare rim I'm buying is Graphite and mine are black so 'm not looking to do the 5 wheel rotation. 'll just look for a decent used 265/70/17 tire for the spare.

Pfff I don't need a house, I'll just buy this thing hahaha

That Nissan guy is pretty cool, he's a semi local to us here. He's on the GA 4Runners FB page, he also races a Miata :burnrubber: But yeah AOP is a badass area, I'm thinking next year or later this year we get a group to go up and hit some trails

If you're just going to use it as a spare I wouldn't get a matching wheel. It's just going to get beat up under the truck and nobody will see it. I'd only get a matching spare if you're gonna put it on a swingout. I'd save the money and spend it on something better. But that's just like my opinion man

Meh just need a high clearance for you 2nd and 3rd gen guys :sawzall:

I've pretty much decided that I need to destroy my current rear bumper before I can justify the purchase of a HC.
