I used to have a 1980 GS750E that I built into a cafe racer. That was one hell of a fun bike but it definitely sucked on long hauls. Now I just have a chopped '57 Harley

Nice bike. I wanna rake out my Harley but apparently the sportster frames are a bitch to do right. Might just rebuild it on a new frame, do chain drive conversion and a 180 or 200 rear tire

    Morning, Brian.

    Apologies for the lengthy post.

The great fridge debate has been going on for years on all forums. That said, I have an ARB 50qt. Thing has done me good. it’s not a perm mounted yet. i have used it in the Jeep and the house for a beer cooler.

Wifey has also used it several times going back and forth to Canada. She thought I was bat shit crazy for buying it. But after her first trip with it.... she digs it and actually said that it was a good purchase. Holy crap, I did something right. Haha.

Now, the reason I bought the ARB was, most people I had been around at the time had the ARB. So, naturally that’s what I went with. They never had any issues with them which also sealed the deal with me and mine.

There are several different brands out there, and I think it all comes down to what you have been around. Which will “I think” play a factor in what you purchase, It did for me. I also liked the fact that the top on the ARB not just opens, but can be removed with a little wiggle. Then replaced with non issue to operation.

Fun part..... You don’t know me from Adam. I think you personally know Randy (wild guess), His words will mean more to you than mine. Also, I have no issue with the Dometic line of fridge/freezers. if I get really stoooopid and pick up another one. The Dom is up there on the list.

To get further into this.. I used to know a guy that ran an Engel 40qt. That puppy was hard wired in his rig and always on. I have not talked to him in years, but if he still has it. That thing has got to be every of 15 years old.

Currently Engel has a sale going on with extended warranties on two of them. https://www.engelcoolers.com/shop/12-volt-portable-fridge-freezers.html Funny.. his is the grey one in the picture.

Side bar (not that it matters) : I also have an Engel 19qt. Dry box, for a lunch box. Dam thing does great.

Actually since I brought it up.. depending on said field trip. I Chang up on how I pack stuff. if drinks will be going thru like a champ, I still bring the rotomoled ice chest cooler and leave the fridge for food only. Short trip.. all in the fridge.

I can keep going, but think I made some kinda point, here.

Oh yeah... Amazon can be your friend. You don’t like, send it back. Also keep an eye for sales. When I bought mine. 4 wheel parts was doing a 12 days of Christmas sale a few years ago. Picked up the ARB 50 for an even $600. Normally $850. Procrastination in buying paid off on that one.

ARB would be the other brand I'd go with if it weren't for dometic. I see nothing but good things about them.

I have delt with Dometic first hand when back when I was working at an RV dealership and was constantly impressed by the quality of their products and the professionalism of the company as a whole. The one thing I always told my customers was that whether your buying an awning, refrigerator or roof top A/C, your buying a product that you'll continue to enjoy for many hassle-free years.

Thanks man! I dont remember who sells them but there are a couple tripple tree neck bearing kits that offer between 1-2" of rake without having to extend the neck.

Yeah, I think Vulcan offers that as an option with their wide glide kit. I'm seriously considering that as well. I have a deep urge to make this bike not-so stock lol

I’m in between bikes right now, but this was my last Thruxton.

Actually, I do have a Suzuki PE175 in my garage right now, but it won’t be rideable for a bit.

I sold my last bike (2010 Kawasaki Concours 14) a few years ago. I wish I hadn't. Best bike I've ever owned. I've been half-heartedly looking for a KLR just to bang around on. I just don't have the time to do the long distance stuff like I used to. This is the longest I've been bikeless since I was 14. It sucketh.

Same. Mine is stage 1, DK customs air cleaner, SE slip-ons, and dynojet kit. Plus a bunch of chrome add-ons. But still way too stock for my liking. Stage 2 is in my near future + some sort of front end mods. Also, gonna switch to a Mikuni carb pretty soon I hear good things about them

@Gearhead86 where did you go to have your frame chopped? Or did you do it yourself or buy it like that? I REALLY like the look of your bike

Not sure if anybody in here ever goes down that way but this guy has four 255/85/16's for free. There pretty worn apparently but would work as spares
