If you’re driving every day, I’d say upgrade your battery to a deep cycle (31m if you can) and it will be more than enough to run your fridge. Even if you add solar to the 27f, you might be ok but you may run out of juice overnight depending on temps, how often you open the fridge, and when you last charged it (had the truck running).

Planning a trip to England/Scotland this Summer. SO and I have 5 or 6 days to drive from London (Heathrow Airport) to Glasgow where we're meeting my family or the rest of the trip. Have the first couple days plotted staying in Winchester and Bath, but still figuring out the rest. Anyone have recommendations? Particularly interested in early/pre-historic sites or easy-ish scenic hikes.

Edinburgh is pretty cool but that’s probably part of your Scotland trip.

Living in Walnut Creek, working In Livermore. Commute shouldn’t be too bad, get to choose when I come and go so going to try and get there early enough to beat most of the traffic

+1 on the deep cycle 31M. I’m running a 27F optima yellow top with my Dometic 50qt fridge and Ive been fine for the last year or so but I’m going to be putting in a bigger size battery soon.

Depending on what fridge you get, you can also change the battery settings. Domestic let’s you choose between three settings on how much you want to protect your battery, or basically at what battery level do you want your fridge to cut off before your battery is drained.

I’m also running the fridge insulator cover thing from Dometic which actually does make a difference. Helps keep the coolness in, even if your battery turns off.

Temperature also plays a big factor. In freezing temps, my battery drains faster with a fridge verses warmer weather

All I can say is that as I commute from the South Bay to Livermore, traffic from the north is slow and go every day during both commute periods. If I had even half of my commute in that traffic, I’d shoot myself.

Yeah 4" fiberglass fenders and bedsides. The tires are 285/75/17 (34x11.5x17)

Do you have to run spacers with those to offset/bring them out enough to match the 4" fenders?

Just curious because I found some McNeil 4" that are already painted to match my truck. But I've been hesitant because I'm running 265/75/16s with a -12mm offset and I think my truck will look like I skipped leg day if I put fiberglass with a 4" bulge.
    Any pics of your truck?

They'll look better without the glass. I have +2 long travel, and with 35's the glass lines up perfectly to the edge of the tires. I have pics in my build thread

Yeah, we'll be ending there, and doing Inverness before that.

NorCal TW friends and interneters, check out all the cool stuff i did to my ride this past weekend:

KC Hilites Cyclone engine bay light kit. i would say these are about perfect in terms of light that you need to get under the hood and do whatever. On the headlamp bracket i installed a pin switch? (opposite of a momentary switch) that activates the lights when the hood goes up and just above the battery i installed a switch to defeat the lights in case i want them to be off when the hood's open.

engine bay lights used the last spot on my fuse block. it's strangely satisfying to use them all.

a while back i replaced my rtt ladder with the collapsible version but the ladder was not secured so it would always extend awkwardly when setting up. installed a strap to make setup and tear down so much easier.

the velcro straps on my CVT were rubbish. the velcro would regularly come apart or slip so that the tent would kinda uncompress making it more difficult to get the cover on. these are a game changer - now teardown goes so much easier! i only installed one side as the tent needs to come off to do the other side but just having two clasps on makes a world of difference. my tent is slimmed down like it got an instant diet. i had these parts for over a year and i'm kicking myself for taking so long to install.

installed 4 eye hooks to mount my cooking disc under the RTT. they are somewhat stout but i'm not sure if they are up to holding a 30lb disc. there are washers on each side and low profile nuts on the inside so they can't be felt through the mattress. i have a small table up there now and need to get better straps. the jury's still out on this one but there's potential. hooks are 20" apart on the square and 28" diagonally.

got these switches and the compressor in a few weeks ago. i haven't installed the rearmost sunglasses holder because i lost the little screw that attaches the console to the headliner. need to dig up a schematic to get a replacement screw then i need to figure out how that spring gets installed in there. now i just need some $$$ to get gears/lockers installed.

also, i picked up BAMF LCA skids from craigslist (thanks to whoever posted in the NorCal CL thread!). put a fresh coat of paint and installed those and cut out the factor skid plate and so it fits.

Anyone know of a custom fabricator in the Bay?
Looking to fab up a custom mounting plate for a solar charge controller to be put inside an engine bay.
Really hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, otherwise I'll have to rig up something from metal j-boxes from Home Depot.
