The LED SAE J583 Fog Pod & Fog Light Review

That's so weird because they specifically told me they were replacing the LEDs and the Lens when I sent mine in for the service to swap to Selective Yellow. I'm curious to see what Rigid tells you.

At least I can know that they still perform better than the white with amber covers over them though right?

 

Yeah, they said they switched to a warm white LED, which should be roughly 3000k below what they used initially. 3000k color temp difference is significant and should easily be measurable.

They are definitely far higher output than the whites version with Rigid's amber covers.

 

Interesting, let me know what Rigid says when they get back to you about the LEDs.

At least I can feel good about the money spent to make the swap then!

Also, if anyone wants my amber covers I have no use for them now. They are in good shape, willing to ship em to somebody for cheap. They should clip onto any Rigid D series light pod. Let me know!

Sorry no vids, but when driving at night flicking them on and off makes a huge difference.

 

Those are the correct ones! Note those are actually selective yellow output achieved with an amber color filter, the light color is not amber. The KC G4s are actual amber output. The Rigid Selective Yellow SAE pods are by far the highest output non-white LED fog.

 

As someone who owns the G4's I dont think I'd want anything brighter for street use.

Absolutely! This thread has been updated with the release of every major SAE Tacoma LED fog. I’d expect their 5000k white version to be among the best, Rigid is too blue at 7000k+ IMO and a pod platform has greater output capacity than the G4. Entirely all speculation of course. The selective yellow is much more complicated, see my earlier comments:

Because if you are trying to make yellow from white light by using an amber filter, but instead start with 7000k+ bluish light. Blue + Yellow = ...
