Hey guys I joined to try and figure out if someone knows what’s up with the truck. Doesn’t seem to affect the way the truck drives but the rig makes a constant squeaky noise while driving down the road no matter what I’m doing??? Any help would be great

If it’s a constant very high pitched squeal, it’s probably the wear indicators on the brake pads. Jack the offending wheel up and spin it.

Would it be squeaking all the time? No matter what I am doing just driving down the road it is squeaky.

Does it only do it driving or can you duplicate it with the vehicle stationary?

This video explains the wear indicator pretty well. This is the first thing I would check. Of course, this would only be on the front wheels of your Tacoma.

Sounds suspension related to me. Is it coming from the front or the rear of the truck? If it's the rear it's most likely squeaky leaf springs which is really common. Blasting them with a high powered hose usually helps for a time. There are other threads on here regarding long term solutions to squeaky leaf springs, if you type it in the search you'll see a bunch of them.

If it's coming from the front you'll have to try and narrow it down to exactly where. When my front end was squeaking I was able to narrow it down to my lower coilovers by rocking the truck back and forth while standing next to the door.

The wheel bearings are a definite contender here. I have an '07 and I replaced the left one @ 91k miles and just yesterday the right one @ 131k.

Wheel bearings typically make a grinding noise when they are going bad, particularly when turning, and are easy to diagnose by lifting the front wheels off the ground and checking for play by grabbing the tire at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. And not cheap to replace at all, I wouldn't put my money on it being the wheel bearings based on what you're describing.

Squeaking while driving down the road is most likely coming from your suspension...dirty or dry bushings, bearings, ball joints...hard to say without more info.

Maybe try and recreate the squeak by rocking the truck back and forth and take a video of the area it's coming from so we can see/hear.

Could it be your u joints? Does the squeak get faster as you drive and vice verse when you slow down, does it go away at highway speeds?

I’d say yes it does squeak faster not Necessarily louder the faster I go but it doesn’t go away at highway speed no.

If it's drivetrain related like u-joints then it would be more in sync with the speed/spinning of the driveshaft. If it's suspension related it would be in sync with the ups and downs of the road terrain.

My case is probably a one-off, but I thought I'd share. I had a loud squeak coming from the front left side on my 2008. I've only had the Tacoma a few weeks, but it was driving me nuts. I couldn't duplicate it when it was standing still, but I still thought through all the options discussed - it sounded like an old suspension. Then, I realized I only heard when I was driving with the window all the way open. Sure enough, I raised the window just a nudge and the squeak stopped. Couldn't believe it had been so loud that I thought it was suspension related! Anyway, thought I'd share, just in case it is that simple.

I'm not sure if I have the same squeak going on, here is a video, you can faintly hear it while I'm driving about 30-35 mph

Sounds like you may have a baby dolphin stuck in your undercarriage.
