TOTALLY understand red flag laws snd such, I ALWAYS have shovel, axe, etc with me.

This is mostly relavant to early season trail clearing, when the red flags are much less likely to be flying.

One of my neighbors has a 3rd gen Tacoma and I was talking to him for a quick minute. I asked if he lifted his Taco and he said he leveled it. I had just met the guy and didn’t want to take up his time by asking, but what is the difference between leveling and lifting? (Rather ask you all than Google)

@Uphillshunter - their understanding is you don't need a permit as long as you leave the wood and only cut from road edge to road edge and move it out of the way. If you are questioned it is important to say you were blocked and had to proceed out that direction. Lot of FS webpages actually say to bring a chainsaw (during Christmas tree cutting) so if needed you can cut up a downed tree across the road to get out.

A firewood permit is not necessary.

Leveling your truck typically means just a little lift up front to "level" the truck out (most all trucks come with a rake to the front from the factory).

Lift means... Well a lift. Could be a spacer lift, suspension lift. Typically associated with lifting the front and back of the truck.

Imo both are broad terms, but in my experience a leveling kit often is referring to a spacer lift up front and nothing in the back.

Yes. My supercharger was seized because my dumbass left all eight papertowels in the intake runners.

I agree with this. If there's a tree in the road and you need to get past it, I'd send it. But some public resource codes that could get you in trouble are 4435 and 4442 but both are along the lines of causing a fire. So regardless of red flag, if it's 100+ and RH is low and you're like...this is a dumb idea...probably dont do it. If it exceeds your saw, tools, and experience....maybe dont do it. Besides that, I know feds in particular might have some some issues in their national forests but yea, leaving the wood and opening the trail doesnt ring any bad bells for me.

Screech owl? Never confirmed sighting of one but I hear them especially back home in midwest. After college I interned at a rehab center and owls apparently can think they are people. We had a screech owl that would sit on your shoulder and loved to be petted like a cat.

Ask @EDDO about clearing roads. He winched like 17 trees this day. If there is a tree blocking the road, I’m pretty sure the forest service would smile on you for clearing it, with absolutely no liability for your actions. I’m also pretty sure @jAndyMendo got special privileges from the Stanislaus Forest service secretary for his extraordinary early season wood felling techniques on other occasions.
