I probably disregard safety too easily and too often. I bought the relocation mounts today and will be sitting on 35s soon.

Just out of curiosity, is everyone running adjustable coilovers for suspension? Is fitting 35's possible on 5100's say on the 2nd or 3rd ring?

You can only have the bilsteins on the lowest perch with OME springs. It should be plenty of height. Only thing is you'll have some trimming. You'd have to do that regardless of height.

Properly fitting 35s is the same regardless of whether a truck has stock suspension or if it's lifted.

I think he means as far as cycling the suspension on trail it will compress to the bumps if you push it far enough. You will know then whether you are truly able to clear 35s as at that point it dont matter what height you have set up.

These numbers aren't exact, but are simplified for demonstration. (I'm leaving out extended COs for this too, they don't help for clearing tires anyway)

Let's say your stock suspension has 9 inches of travel.
Also let's say your stock ride height is in the middle of that travel range and you have 4.5 inches of "up travel" and 4.5 inches of "down travel".

Doing a simple lift with adjustable coilovers doesn't change the travel range. You still have 9 inches of travel. You just change where your truck sits within that range of travel. If you lift your truck, you trade down travel for up travel. Lifting 3 inches will set your suspension so you will have 7.5 inches of "up travel" and 1.5 inches of "down travel". Your truck can still travel all the way up and rub on things, it's just harder to get the tire stuffed now, especially on the street.

Regardless of "lift" your suspension travel still ends at the same place, which on 35s, is your tire smashing into sheet metal at the top of the wheel well.

So a better question would be how much travel is necessary in order to fit 35's?

Up travel is almost the same as stock. No you wont have as much up travel as stock, but unless you're driving a pavement princess, then you'll have to do the same amount of trimming regardless of lift. One factor that differs is a body lift. Another is the size and back space of your wheels.

I just wanted to reach out and see how you liked the 4.30 with 35's. I also have a 6MT, and from what I can tell the 4.30 with 35's should be about the same as stock with 265/70/16. Do you wheel? I am more interested in how they work offroad. Since they are about stock I imagine mall crawling is the same as stock. I want to avoid slipping the clutch the whole time I crawl over rocks. I would go 4.56, but don't want to trailer it everywhere either.

    Anyhow, thanks for any input.

For you guys running Superbumps up front - what size spacer did you use? 1/4" or 3/8"?

    Just ordered 315's

I wheel plenty and 4L 1st gear is where i spend most of my time so i dont have to abuse my clutch. On the trail, in 4L, i dont feel like i lose anything with the larger tires cause the gearing is so low. In 2 or 4H, i rarely use 6th, but other than that its still plwnty driveable
