Stage one of the trip done. Milwaukee to Austin, 1423 miles in two days. Now for two days in Austin drinking good coffee and good beer. All I did on the truck today was cleaned a few bugs off!

I have the One Up rack, I love it, but it blocks the license plate completely am always afraid to get stop by the police, so I only mount it when am going for a ride and then take it off, it pretty easy to put on and off.

I have never driven a vehicle that throws so much water out in front and then onto the windshield as the Tacoma. I cannot hit water like I did in other vehicles, or I am completely blinded. The county roads around here flood over and drain off all the time. I kind of figured they were for water spray, but I am not sure they help. hahaha

Mine rub and I am still Stock. Who knows. They will come off when I lift Betty.

How much was the rebuild if you do not mind me asking?

Alum can be just as strong if you go thicker. I would stay away from 3000 and 5000 series for strength applications. 6061-T6 is pretty good stuff. I havent used 7000 or 8000 series, so I cannot comment. The biggest difference between Alum and Steel is that you can bend steal back a few times before it breaks. Alum just splits! You can form 6061-T6 with a 2X material thickness radius, but it crack if you try to bend it back.
I am surprised someone hasn't come out with an Alum bumper that has steel inserts for the recovery points and winch mount.

    Too few to list.
I have the same bike rack but sometimes it worries me to have expensive bikes back there.

Why's that? We don't leave them unattended much at all, but I don't think twice about them in transit.

Granted SoCal is a little more aggressive on the petty crime front.

I thought the same exact thing! I hit some on a side road in Virginia coming back home to Ohio and I was shocked at how much comes flying up on the windshield.

It's not about being unattended, there's just plenty of rear end collisions that happens here. Too many distracted drivers. Almost every stop light, I see someone on their cell phone. At about $2K per bike, that price tag on a collision can go up real quickly.
