Tacoma Size vs Full Size

I appreciate all of the help. This is our second vehicle, my wife has a 3 row suv that is the ‘family’ vehicle. I just want to be able to fit everybody if I had to. I threw all the seats in it and it will be sufficient, not great but it’s not meant to do that everyday. I think this will be a better balance for my commuter vehicle that also has the versatility to load up the bed with almost everything I’ve used the F150 for. Should be safe and reliable with good resale value.

 

It's a frame of mind thing in a lot of ways... if you are constantly trying to compare it to the more spacious/comfort oriented F-150 then Tacoma will obviously fall short and you will never be satisfied. But if you think about what the truck is designed for (excellent reliability and ensuring you get home safely), there's simply no beating it. You have to set your expectations in line with what the truck was designed to do in order to really enjoy it.

Regardless, I think you will be happy with your choice!

 

I think it would handle it better than the steel and aluminium beds of ferd and chevy. It defiantly would pass the brick test commercial or the tool box commercial. It takes some getting used to. Then you love it.

 

If a had to pick the most iconic vehicle in Washington State, it would be a 30-year old Ford F-Series regular cab, 4WD, with crank windows, manual hubs, faded paint and fumes spewing off the tailpipe LOL

 

I drive a 2011 chev half ton for work that regularly gets 15-16mpg and I’m consistently getting 20-24mpg in my Tacoma !

 

an sr5 for 35k-37k? that seems a bit much. i just got my 19 ORLB 4x4 for 34,8k plus taxes

 

7.3l idi, 5 speed manual with working 4wd. It's my beater. Never let's me down.

Those NA 7.3's were basically unkillable but man were they dogs.

 

Yeah hahaha. It's got tons of torque down low. Put it in 4wd lo and the thing feels like it's going to rip the front off Haha. The front fuel tank leaks and the tank selector is hit or miss. I just use the new rear tank I install and surprisingly even at 19gal, the diesel lasts quite a while.

Where are you from, hold off a couple days and let some members help you get a good deal. You should be able to get a new SR5 4x4 for around 30k before tax/title/license fees. A new OR?Sport will run you around 33k before TTL.

 

Great response. Definitely agree with that last part it might not be the most powerful or best shifting truck but it’s fun to drive and good in traffic. To sum it up a “big little truck”

 

I think the point is, if you're regularly hauling 1200lbs full size will drive better because it's not maxed out.

Put 4,000lbs of shit in a 3500 and it'll squat and sway too.

 

I put 1" spacers on rear bolt of my seat. Awesome mod raises seat up in rear and is way more comfortable. Huge difference highly recommend.

 

Seems like a decent deal. A brand new one 4x4 SR5 would probably cost about $31-32k. See if you can get them to budge down to $28,000 or $28500 since they will add dealer fees on top.

If you are financing then keep in mind that the higher apr rate on the used vehicle could easily make it cost just as much as a brand new once. If you can get a new once for 0 or 0.9% apr like toyota financial offers then it would be a solid deal instead of a used one that cost 2k less but with a 5% apr

 

I appreciate the offer. Tad bit too late though as I signed the deal last night. I did look at new and the problem was my trade so the entire deal looked way better on this truck. I did get them down a bit more on the truck before signing.

And more expensive. Compare a Tacoma with a similarly equipped Tundra and it's not a negligle difference in price.

 

Indeed. Although the domestics have a lot more room to haggle on full-size trucks.

At one point I was looking at only a $2,000 difference between a well-equipped GMC Canyon SLT 3.6 V6 with an $8,000 discount, and a fully loaded GMC Sierra SLT 5.3 V8 with a $15,000 discount.
