I think that looks awesome, nice work. I keep thinking about something like that but not sure I need it. Been doing things the same way for so long doubt I'd change. Usually by the time it's dark all my chores have been done so for rest of the night I only need a headlamp to find or put away the occasional thing. Let's me work on my night vision, doesn't give away my position and doesn't attract swarms of flying bugs into my sleeping quarters. But that's just my take.

looks close to what I did as well! Did you find something that fit well or did you make them yourself? I like having the ability to turn on one side while open and just hanging out. I put a switch panel into the side of the bed though, and a switch up top too. I just wish I had put a usb port up there. I also wish I had your nighttime photo skills haha

Thanks! I just used LED light strips (which can be cut to length), nothing special at all. I gotta be honest about the pic, either I got lucky or it was whatever the heck the iphone does inside.

ah, I went on a spree but couldn't find any waterproof strips I liked. I ended up buying the water-resistant option, aluminum channel with diffuser and end caps. Cut them all to fit perfectly on the doors, it's so satisfying not to have to move lanterns around anymore.

I went as far as calculating amps/foot, mostly just trying to justify the jump to a removable house battery in the back

Amps/foot on led strip lights? Lemme guess, that didn’t help justify a house battery in the bed? :p

The ones in the pic are 5000k, 12v, 8mm width, 82 lumens/1.3watts per ft. Since I'm already invested in the Milwaukee cordless tool platform, I jerry-rig their 12v batteries for a number of camping/etc things.....such as these lights.

First post on this forum, so hope I get it right - constructive advice ok...

Should be receiving my camper this month (#254) and already own a Rhino Rack Batwing Canopy I hope to use with this build - Regarding the new awning mounts posted by The_Tacocamper on pg 18 - is anyone using these mounts with a Batwing or is additional fabrication required?

    Thanks!

I've been following this thread(and other GFC threads) with a great deal of interest as I have a GFC on order (#369). Seems like quite a few people are having problems with their campers. Wondering if folks are regretting their purchase?

I ordered a GFC the idea looks simple and rugged, something I would not have a bunch of problems with. Have to admit, reading some of these threads has me feeling a bit concerned.

I'm a huge fan of mine. I would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about some of the issues others are having.

I wouldn't say i regret buying the GFC, but i am very disappointed in my experiences trying to get the water intrusion issues fixed.

Presumably newer campers have addressed that issue and you won't need to navigate a warranty repair.

What number was your camper? I am hoping that many of the issues have been sorted out by the time my unit is produced. I am not opposed to working with a small vendor in getting something fix, but sound like people have had some challenges in getting issues resolved. Does not help that they are *all* the way in Montana -- not like you can just pop it is in mail.

I don't regret my decision because it is really the best camper out there for my needs and is in my opinion better designed at it's given price point when compared to alternatives. However, I am quickly getting frustrated with lack of customer support. I understand that they are relatively new, but they have promised better response times and support multiple times in the past without following through. Right now I am sitting at almost a week of radio silence about resolving rust/leakage issue with mine. It seems like it is simply a roll of the dice whether or not they respond. I'm ready to drop more money on accessories and upgrades, but am waiting on a reply. We have been spoiled in a world with instant customer service from many big companies, but this is the longest I have ever had to wait in any industry or any corporation. Frustration is putting it lightly. I'm starting to feel completely disregarded after dropping nearly $6k and waiting to spend more.

Not sure how you’re Jerry rigging them, but I have a USB adapter for the m18 batteries that I use for powering goal zero usb lanterns. Or for charging my phone or whatever.

I'm right there with you. I'm so stoked about the camper and am ready and willing to buy pretty much any accessory they put out. But, i feel i've been completely jerked around with customer service.

    I have GFC 20 something.

Still happy with the purchase. Worried about some of the issues others have had, the failed hinge being most worrisome. No major issues with mine.

I do have water in the front tube. Have not fixed it.

I agree that service, support and communication should be much better.

Is the water in the tubes issues been resolved on later units or is this still an issue? When I get my camper I will remove all the bolt and spray something like this in all the holes (https://www.jensonusa.com/JP-Weigle-Frame-Saver-Aerosol-Can). I used that on high end steel bike frames for years and it is known to effectively prevent internal corrosion. I am sure there are similar products that are suitable. Also, I will look into getting much better fasteners.

Maybe I'm just living a better life or something - I have had great customer service. It was damn slow at first (pre production) and my delivery got pushed back 1/2 dozen times. But after that everything went pretty smoothly. I had one 'big' warranty problem and it was taken care of in a week or so.

I have no idea if there's water in the front tube. It opens up easily enough and I know that there's a fix in the works so I just use it and haven't thought twice about it.

I did take a look at my bolts - I haven't taken any out to look more closely but absolutely no corrosion from where I can see.

haven't had any problems - zero, none - with water intrusion. And, I live in a dam wet place.

    #46 (I think).

I still need to post pix of my 'mods'. Been hoping to get the lights installed first...
