I put in 5100s In the front a couple weeks ago on the 2.5 notch. Everything has been fine, alignment went well and drives fine. the other day I put in 5100s on the back and a 1.5" aal which gave me roughly 2" of lift. Now when I get to about 60 mph I can hear a vibration somewhere, I can hear it more than I can feel it and it stops when I let off of the throttle. Any ideas?

your driveshaft angles have changed, specifically your pinion angle - where the driveshaft connects to your rear dif. 3 to 4 degree shims should help correct the issue
    Or a carrier bearing drop

    Here's a demonstration of what's happening
Personally I'd avoid those corporate shops - their garbage, take it to a reputable private shop that does driveshafts and suspension

@chrispchicken9 I will most likely do it myself. Is there a preference between the two? Spacing the carrier bearing seems like it would be less labor intensive

Could try cb first, though I wouldn't go much over 1/4" down personally, it'll start putting stress upstream

I did about 1/8" cb drop and 4 degree shims on my 2" lift front and rear with AAL and it drives like butter - smoother than it ever did before

The above video is kind of an extreme example, a 2" lift doesn't change the angles *that much*.

That said, I would look at your carrier bearing. It may be worn out. If so, replace it. Most people don't get vibes with just a 2" lift, and it seems like the people who do it's because pieces are worn out.

Other fixes would include, as stated above, dropping your carrier bearing 1/2" or so, or getting shims that will point your pinion angle up a couple degrees.

You said the vibration changes when you step on and off the throttle is because you're adding torque to your rear dif - this would be my first fix
can you add photos of the angle?

Just check if it's worn out first. If it's worn out and you just drop it, you didn't actually fix anything... Just grab it and yank around on it. It should move a little bit, but not too much.

Well I'm feeling a little silly now. I got under there to snap a pic and everything is lined up pretty well. But I grabbed the driveshaft and it has some play. So I will replace it. Surely that's the issue. It just showed up right after I did the rear lift so I assumed that was the cause.

Mine has "some play" too, (all do, in fact), so that's not really a guaranteed fix...

And where is the play? the U joints? the slip yoke?

The play was in the cb. I just changed it out and after playing with it I started thinking it was okay. I'm still having the issue though

If the vibration stops when I let off the throttle could it still be the CV? Aren't they just spinning freely whether I'm on the throttle or not?
