I restored a perfectly good welder.

I did bondo work on a sandblast cabinet.

    Your argument is invalid.

Been using a shattered phone since April and just switched to a new one. Having a smooth screen feels so weird. I also didn't realize how I was unconsciously scrolling text as much as I was to get it to less cracked parts for easier reading lol

I mean by now it's at least dry enough for you to put it together. Make sure the nuts are all tight now

Just saw this monstrosity & thought, damn, he must really like the Lakers or something. Then I saw the liscence plate. I don't understand how people think that looks good. I'm sure it was cheap to do either. The front suspension was yellow & purple too. Tailgate says Black Mambo on the left & Mambo out on the right. WTF!  :puke:

Yeah sort of. I'm not a racist, I do sterotype sometimes :), I thought for sure it was a Mexican dude because of the area I was in & common to see shit like this but nope, white dude like in his 50s, looked like a typical fireman.

I agree with Zane. I've never waited that long & never had an issue running an engine when I worked at the shop. As long as the mating surfaces are good & tight a few hrs is good enough. But I suppose with everything you've been through already & it's not your oonly vehicle to drive, won't hurt to be safe than sorry.

The way I see it, when a dealer replaces the valve cover gaskets on some models (2az for example), it calls for additional rtv in spots. They dont hold your car for 2 days to let the stuff dry.

Its also why I get a kick out of aftermarket companies that tell you to recheck torque after 500 miles. Is the dealer gonna make you come back 500 miles after they install new shocks or something? No. Bolts dont just loosen up if theyre torqued properly the first go round.

I dunno I've gone back to check torque on things like my u-bolts and shackles and had them take a half turn or so the be properly torqued, and they were definitely torqued after install...usually multiple times.

I imagine for most driving conditions it's true that you shouldn't need to re-check the torque but if you're bouncing and flexing the truck a lot after an installation I think it's wise to go back over the bolts again.

Couple weeks ago I loosened my SPC top nut to play with the adjustments, when I was done I retorqued them to 150lbs per the instruction sheet. Double checked it on both sides. That weekend I went offroading and the nut loosened on one side and threw my camber way off, I had to jack it up when I got home and correct the alignment, then retorque.

Checked it again a few hundred miles later and it didn't need any further adjustment, but I didn't do any wheeling that time.

Last weekend I went out and had my torque wrench ready with a 35mm socket and checked it every hour or so, they were good.

Just seems like a good peace of mind thing to do depending on how the truck is used and what kind of components are in question really.

Also probably a good testament to why thread locker is important to use in some cases unless specifically instructed not to.

In that case once I finish buttoning everything up I’ll take it for a test run.

I have two cars waiting to be fixed so I gotta get this truck done.

Chrome right? All I can really do is etch it, Chrome sucks to remove. Should be sufficient enough though.

Buy me a bag of abrasive and I’ll get it done for you.

Wow. I am really stupid. I drove to Home Depot and I completely forgot the entire reason I drove there. The grabber tool.

The towels are soaked in gas, right? Just stick a lighter down there and burn em up. Then use a blow nozzle to get the remains out.

This is either a really dumb idea, or a smart one. Dunno which.
