 I'm just curious at this point really. I've been on the fence lately about changing up from the factory TRD tune.. simply due to the simplicity and safety of it. I have and still do beat on this thing.. and with all the sand drags, wheeling, pulling expo trailers, etc.. it has never failed me or given me any issues, and runs strong. just got back from a 2500 mile roadtrip LOADED down (full extra set of wheels, tools, camp gear for 2 people, personal gear, etc) up to the Sierra Nevada's and it ran great. I love feeling confident in it currently.. I just worry if I start changing things.. it may start acting up.

Honestly itll be just as reliable as the trd tune especially if ur setup remains the same. Better mpg....

Buy the hp tuner man. If you dont like it in a month I'll buy it from you and give it to a tw buddy. It's a great setup when properly dialed.

My main reason for not jumping on board yet either. I fought my ucon for 6 months before it decided to cooperate. Now that its running good, i dont have the desire to go thru anything like that again

@JustDSM, did we remove my speed limiter?
Had an odd rev limiter/speed limiter reaction this morning. On a closed course I got on it from 50 to who knows. Rev limited it shook the truck. Speed unknown. It happened fast.

I respect your decision. Without tuning help I never would have aborted trd tune. It's good and safe. But this truck runs perfectly now.

I could be wrong but two ucon advantages are guardian feature, and on the fly calibrate for methanol. If I max things out for methanol tuning I'm in big trouble with any hiccups. So I use it as octane, cooling, and a safety net.

We did. It's possible you hit the rev limiter. I know @loginfailed has had some "delay" in shifting causing a momentary bump onto the revlimter. Trans shift points can be adjusted to account for the delay it takes to shift now that you're spinning the motor up faster the transmission has less time to make the change.

Yes sir, those are reasons 2 and 3 for why im still on that train.. Love the guardian feature, it's saved me countless times while i was having issues. The adaptives for meth are pretty cool too. Mine cuts about 15% fuel at WOT when the meth is spraying

I think I was in 5th. Think. The 5 or 6 rev limited hits caused the entire drivetrain to surge resulting in an odd shaking. I've never pushed speed until today. Wow, the torque this thing makes at freeway speeds is very impressive.

Good reasons. You will yield the best rewards from that. I think ucon is a sweet setup.

@JustDSM absolutely killing it again! Have there been any changes to your "baseline optimization tunes" since VVTi Changes?

Also, look out for a revised ND4's auto shift helper excel doc sometime today with added TCC charts and some new shift point changes I am going to test after my longer drive this past weekend.

Its actually quite a LONG time from when the ECU commands a gear till the trans actually shift on the auto. 1st to 2nd gear shifts are actually rather conservative, around the 5100rpm mark because things do spin up so quickly compared to other gears, which are closer to a 5400-5500 rpms.

So what all is involved then? I'm seeing talks of cam gears and injectors.

I wouldn't mind leaning it out some.. to gain a few more ponies..

Buy the hp and be satisfied. All aftermarket changes are sweet adjustments. If anything get after @JustDSM for those gears before they're no longer available. My 3 cents.

HPTuners MPVI2 + 4 universal credits + JustDSM tune.... and live it up. Gains on the supercharger TRD tuned trucks are pretty damn good apparently cus the TRD tune is so dog rich from the factory
