She took a yard of granite and wasn’t even on the bump stops! Back for another load. Figured it’s gunna get scratched and dented sooner or later, mine as well use it like a truck.

Where'd you get those pavers? My local Lowes and HD don't seem to have that kind. I want to use something similar around my house. I have that shitty ass metal stuff right now and it looks like trash.

This is like the last 30 minutes of school waiting for summer vacation to start and you have to just sit there. Or getting back from a deployment and you can't see your family that is right next door because you have briefings and paper work to do...

I feel like the girls are coming home today.

    Their temps are stable
They're in regular cribs instead of Isolettes
They passed their car seat test
    They passed their hearing test.

I don't believe there is much more for them to do, were just waiting on the Dr to say yes!

    Good deal!

I remember driving us home from the hospital (which was an hour away)...I've never been so on edge in my life. Truly gives meaning to "hauling precious cargo".

I also remember that feeling of "oh shit, what now" because we had so many people helping out at the hospital, then we got home and were completely on our own.

You'll figure it out quick though...I feel like parenting comes pretty damn natural - we never did any classes or read any books - totally winged it.

I am oddly very grateful that they were in the NICU for a full two weeks and not just straight home. That gave me the chance to have the nurses help with things and I could ask lots of questions and make sure I was doing things right.

It just doesn't feel real right now. It's this weird surreal feeling. They aren't part of my everyday life yet because when I leave the hospital, I don't have to care for them or tend to them. I can step away for a moment.

I am truly grateful to have two beautiful healthy girls. I hear stories like yours where Preemies spend months in the NICU born half the size of my girls and it just blows my mind. It's one of those things most people probably can't even begin to comprehend. It was hard for us and we only got a small taste of it.:hattip:

I'm sure the "Oh shit what now" will hit me here in a bit. Right now I just have full on senioritis at work. So excited.

Yeah, once you get outside of the controlled environment of the hospital is when the hard work actually starts.

Before you know it, they’ll be walking around and doing stuff independently.

From a beach trip a few weekends ago. She’s 19mo now. Time flies.

Oh, and if the bottles you have aren’t working - try Dr. Brown Natural Flow bottles. They have more moving parts than a Glock, but they really help cut down on the baby sucking in air while feeding, and causing trapped gas.

Your daughter looks like shes doing great! Hard to tell now that she had such a hard start on life. Love the hat!

I think we went through about 4 different kinds before landing on Dr. Brown's.

We probably have at least 12-15 Avent 9oz. Probably too many for right now. All unopened so we can return if we need to swap out and try something else.

They are doing great with the Enfamil formula bottles and nipples. I'm not really sure how all these other leading brands compare but the Enfamil caps were pretty basic.

Honestly, nearly every parent is winging it. That's just how it is.

We used Enfamil premature the whole time. She stopped producing milk around week 3, so formula it was. The powder stuff did not work for us, so we had to buy the premixed bottles...not much more expensive but it got to the point we were going through a case of 6 bottles a day @ $14/case...I rejoiced (so did our bank account) the day we finally switched from formula to whole milk.

Congrats on the girls, Glad your girls are doing good and getting to come home. When my son was born he spent 7 weeks in the NICU , he was 10 weeks early & weighed 2lbs 2ozs. I’m very grateful everyday for all the DRs & nurses in the NICU.

Do yourself a favor and go pick up some of the dr Browns bottles. Glass if you can find them. Night and day difference with my son and spitting up. They’re $$ but worth it.

They were actually here at the house when I bought em. I just pulled em all up and redid the flower beds and lined the new concrete that I poured.
