    So I just ordered 6112s set at 4/5, ome/ Dakar medium duty leafs, and 5160s for the rear for my 3rd gen DCLB OR. My question is does anyone run the dakars with the third leaf out for closer to 1.5" lift? I generally only have about 150lbs in the bed except for on trips and want a moderate lift with better ride and off road capabilities.

    I was told by one of the vendors here when I placed an order from them. They advised me to go with 5100s with the setup I was aiming. They told me the 5160s were too long and would’ve busted

    Either you or the vendor got the #'s crossed. The 5125's are too long for stock height, not the 5160's. But you'll be fine as the 5100 is a direct replacement for stock.

    From Wheelers website

    5100-
    – Collapsed Length (IN): 14.02

    – Extended Length (IN): 22.94

    5160-
    • 14.22"" collapsed x 24.06"" extended
    5125-
    These measure 15.01" collapsed x 24.38" extended

    You see one of the benefits of the 5160 is its only fractionally longer collapsed (0.2") but over an inch longer extended. The collapsed length allows it to be run on a otherwise stock truck. Also perfect for a 1-2" lift. That's what sold me. A solid pick for our Tacomas if you like to off road and is a good match for the 6112's.

    Makes sense now.

    Since I don’t off-road mine, I would’ve still gone with the 5100s, since it still met my needs. So far I’ve been pleased with the ride quality from the 6112s and 5100s. Ride is super smooth now. To me, it rides almost like a Cadillac lol pretty pleased with the money spent on the new suspension.

    In that case you could've went with 5100's in the front also? saved a lot of $$, just sayin? all good though.

    I could’ve, but I wanted a better ride quality so I went with the 6112s. I have a budy that has 5100s set on 3rd notch and the ride is pretty firm, didn’t like the way it rode. The 6112s are nice, soaks up bumps like nothing. I’ve been very pleased with the performance of my 6112s. Took it on a road trip to CO this week and it’s been amazing.

    Same. I went over a speed bump at 60mph today and it felt like nothing. I had the gf in the car and we both tensed up when we felt it to brace for the impact, but nothing! It was just like a slight bump. Been pleased so far. Sucks that the left 5160 are out of stock.

    There are several roads here in CO Springs where it’s pretty bumpy but the 6112s did great at soaking them. Impressive what they can do over the stock 4600s it came with the truck.
    Maybe one day I’ll want the 5160s, but for now the 5100s on the rear are doing a really great job. Pairs nice with the 6112s since I don’t take mine off-roading.

    I have a Gen2 with an ARE canopy with Dakar standard leaf pack. Initially I installed the leaf pack with the 3rd leaf installed. The ride quality over the stock springs was noticeably better for sure and the lift was about 2.5-2.75 inches. My rig was sitting level before Dakar install and after the Dakar install it had a substantial rake I thought was extreme so I ended up removing the 3rd leaf. The truck sat perfectly IMO without the 3rd leaf. But, without the 3rd leaf the springs were compressed enough to begin contacting the overload springs thus causing the ride quality to diminish. And when a bit of weight was added to the rear of the truck the rear dipped enough to either level the truck or make it sag in the rear. Ultimately, I reinstalled the 3rd leaf and immediately noticed a better ride quality due to the overload springs not being activated. I am now used to the rake of the truck and will definitely keep the 3rd leaf installed. I suggest installing the complete leaf pack if you will have a canopy or carry weight full time.

    To everyone running the 5160's with the EL095R Dakar Medium Duty leaf springs. Are there any other special considerations that need to be taken into account with this combo? I believe I'm understanding that new bump stops and new brake lines are not needed. Is there anything other than the standard Leaf Pack + Bushings that need to be accounted for?

    @GREY_27 the 5160 is best recommended for up to 1.5" lift to optimize shock travel (both up and down). The Medium Dakars won't truly destroy the 5160 just because it gives more lift. However, I would say that the 5160 will limit down-travel when full droop.

    @TacoCasa , @GREY_27 , @iKONik, I actually have the 5160's with the medium Dakar setup with 2.75"'s in the rear in a 2013 dclb. The first generation 5160's were only made for up to 1.5". The second generation ones have almost the exact same shock specifications as the OME rear shocks made for the dakars.
    5160's:
    Shock Specifications:
    - Collapsed = 14.22"
    - Extended = 24.06"
    - Travel 9.84"

    OME nitrocharger 60091's:
    Shock Specifications:
    - Collapsed: 14.173"
    - Extended: 23.583"
    - Travel: 9.41"

    I have them with a wheelers ubolt flip kit and tembren's and have never had a problem both on and offroad. I do have extended brake lines but they are not needed because the 5160's come with a brake line bracket for more length.

    @crashngiggles I actually have the exact same set up. Although I didnt have the exact shock travel numbers, I've actually oscillated the leaf springs without the shocks to see that it matched the travel for the shocks.
