MESO Total Tail Light Kit

finally got mine installed

Just want to preface by saying this is a joke. I was behind a ridgeline in traffic today and realized they have very similar brake lights and their brake lights happen to already use the whole 'C' design.

 

Actually there are a lot of trucks using this design or similar I've noticed. (GMs come to mind)

Also received a Toyota stress Squeeze ball from another vender to have and use when waiting for future meso Drops

I’m currently running OEM Pro tails, and will be upgrading them with the stage 1’s hopefully Tomorrow morning when the temps are cooler.

I never even paid attention to other tail lights before this thread lol you are right there are plenty. The stock taco light is lacking in brightness compared to a lot of them. This mod is a great solution

 

I have the ultimate turns too. I just finished installing mine. I tested the driver side with out the resister and no quick flashers. I installed them anyways on both sides (taped to the tail housing above the reverse buckey). I also got some of the cheaper front leds that were previously mentioned. I haven't installed them yet maybe they will require the resistor. IDK probably not.

Is there any downfall to having the resistors installed any ways? Is it because of the mirror blinker that its not required? I always just thought that the ultimate turns were just replacing leds with leds thats why resistors arent required (before installing TTL S1).

While testing I realize that when in reverse when you use the turn signal you have no reverse like on what ever direction you are signaling. You still have one reverse light. I assume with your hazzards on in reverse you have no reverse (I didnt actually test). I assume this would rarely happen, and if you have on hazzards somebody would pay more attention to you. They would notice you are reversing even with out seeing the white light. just a rambling thought.

 

You won't need any more load resistors when you install the front turn LEDs. One per circuit (right side / left side) is all you need, if any.

Installing a load resistor when not needed may have an adverse effect, instead hyper-flash, you may get no flash or always on. You just need to test your setup.

I don't know if it's the intended result, but what you describe is what mine does as well - in reverse with a turn signal on, there is no reverse light.

 

Oh yeah I only installed the resistors that came with the TTL. I didn’t mean I was going to install 4 resistors when installing the fronts. Just meant I used Meso’s resistors because I was going to install front leds. Even though it worked with out them initially. Seemed fine with Halogen turns and seems the same with led front bulbs.

I didn’t think about it being the reverse and slowing them down but it seems fine atm

Edit : I lied I got hyper flash now with the front leds with meso resistors installed. Is it different with the car running vs not running. When I first tested it car was in the on position but not running. With the car running I get this



Here is reverse with hazards
There’s probably no way around this and you probably rather have hazards than reverse lights in this scenario. Just thought people would like to know if the situation were to arise.

 

Got mine installed (no resistor need with V4 ultimate turns. Just taped over the plug)

Also I can’t be the only one that has a box of random stock parts from all my meso mods.

 

The truck should be running for your tests. Odd that you have the MESO load resistors installed in the TTL`s and still have hyper-flash, doesn't seem right.

 

The hyper flash is only with LED front signal bulbs. With the halogen bulbs in the front it works perfectly. I ended up pulling the front leds and will try messing with it again tomorrow.

 

Try a resistor up front as well as the ones in back

 

I guess every truck is different. I have TTL S1 and added front turn LEDs. I only had hyper-flash on the left side so only installed the load resistor on the left side. No hyper-flash on the right side and no resistor.

 

Just installed the LEDs and boy are they bright, I cant image how the stage 2 are.

 

For going between hazards and reverse, I'd have hazards on and just put it in reverse and then turn off your hazards. There is really no doubt with these about your intentions. Stage 2 is blind the guy behind you bright, so he'll be fumbling to hit his own reverse and honking at you to stop.

I need to get someone to step on the brakes so I can take a pic to see how they light up for the stage 1

 

Stage 1’s installed. Didn’t need the resistors so I marked and cut the wires and crimped some connections on just incase I need to add the resistors in the future. I then used the resistor plug to make a good seal. I live on the coast and deal with a salty environment so I felt this is necessary. I put some Sil-Glyde in the ends of the connectors to seal them off.

Overall love the stage one kit - one problem.

One of the switchback bulbs is not working properly. The turn signal works fine on both, but the reverse light is not functioning on one. Same setup, and I double checked the connection process (though that's hard to screw up). Could be a faulty bulb. All other functions are operating normally. Thoughts?
