Rust on Frame with A/C drain mod fix

My buddys 08 tundras frame is completely rotted through and seperated between the cab and front strut mount and toyota wont do a thing about it for him. He bought it back around 2010 and its been treated well ever since the body doesnt have any rust and the frame is still painted for the most part but where the ac dumped on it has completely destroyed the frame in that spot. Shits no joke take a few minutes and do this it could save you in the long run

 

Made that mistake. An hour wasn't long enough

 

I'm sure this has already been posted, but found a perfect route for the hose that requires no zip ties. I still used one at the bottom (after I took this photo), just to increase the diameter of the hose to prevent it from tucking back into the crossmember, but overall it's protected very well from the exhaust.

 

I'm thinking of rerouting mine like this too.

 

Just to clarify, these pictures are looking from the outside of the passenger wheel well,? I did not do this yet so if someone can tell me the process I will get to it

I’m yet to do mine too...looks like you are looking like your head is under the tranny looking toward the Pax side front corner. Pax tire is on the right of the photo.

 

In the picture I posted, I'm looking up to the passenger wheel well from under the truck, right below the tranny.

There route I took, goes from the original drain tube location, into the support for the cross member, out the top of the cross member, then back through it to the ground. This keeps a good chunk of the hose isolated from the exhaust.

 

Just did the AC Drain Mod and i ran the hose as most people did but popped it out near the lower control arm. My question the hose comes pretty close to the exhaust system only about .5" apart. Will that be an issue?

 

Just got my Taco 2 months ago & hadn’t used the A/C until yesterday...did this earlier yesterday morning before I ever turned it on. Thanks for the help & suggestion with this mod! No drips yet, but def worth the $10 in parts from Auto Zone.

 

Would like to hear if anyone has had issues with standard 5/8"ID heater hose due to proximity to exhaust.
Was considering using high temp heater hose but curious if that is overkill.

 

I used exactly what he suggested in the original post, & I noticed it was close to the exhaust heat shield also, so I used another zip tie to pull it farther away from there. Should work fine, as I saw other rubber hoses right next to it factory.

 

When I finally got around to doing this to my truck this afternoon, I could see chalky condensate residue from the drain, but no rust yet. I used 1/2" ID clear vinyl hose and a 1/2" barbed connector. Got both at Lowe's. I think it was about $6 total.

 

Update: NO issues, its been warm in SC the last few days & she is dripping nicely...directly onto the concrete or asphalt where I park lol

Alright, so I feel really stupid posting this. Did the mod and she ain't squirtin.

Drove around for about an hour with the AC on and no puddle. Checked both sides of the firewall and there are no kinks and no AC runoff inside the cabin. Also tried to feel for the "blowing" but to no avail.

Anyone else have this issue?
