Had to look up a swamp cooler. I was thinking you folks lived in hot dry area, WTF the calling an AC a swamp cooler. And I see it’s just the opposite of what I expected it to be. Wouldn’t used one of then on the east coast, we need water removed from the hot humid air.

 

I grew up in Jersey and have fond memories of humidity. I can't say I miss it. lol

When I first got out here and realized it got to 100 degrees every so often I thought I was going to die. My buddy gave me the classic line of "It's a dry heat". My response was: So's my oven. Turns out that 100 degrees and 5% humidity is way, way, way, way more comfortable then 85 degrees with 85% humidity. lol

 

Yeah, they work great for 80-90% of the summer. During July-August we typically see some monsoonish weather. Gets muggy and the swamp cooler doesn't do a whole lot.

 

I remember having to rearrange the house for summer/ winter. Winter, the living room got moved to the fireplace room and summer it we moved it to the swamp cooler room that adjoined the kitchen in the double wide mobile home. When we lived in stagecoach

 

I totally get that. I am fortunate in that my PC desk (where I live) is smack dab between the cooler vent and pellet stove. I don't have to get up all year long if I don't want to...

 

i grew up western slope ElDorado county 1800ft elevation. hot hot hot..not as hot as Sacramento. was about 86* here today northbay 64ft elevation and that is hot. heard 107* out in SV

 

Me and @Cav_BluTRD have this plan to get you to move closer to us. That way, we can get the tires AND you can buy my boat
