That looks great. However, it doesn’t have the bro (masculine) look that North America seems to love, as retarded as that sounds.

I don't know if it is just me, but the Hilux looks more car than truck...

And this my friends is why we lost the Hilux in the US. Too many people care more about looks than utility, capability, and reliability.

    Wrong.

The front end of the Hilux is not only ugly, but stupid, and would be destroyed doing anything mildly “offroad”.

I think it’s hideous mostly because it has no utility. Those “canards” below the fog lamps are the most useless, and non-functional decorations I’ve ever seen on a truck. The whole front end is not off-road friendly at all.

Thank god Toyota gave us a practically designed pickup, and not this spaceship Hilux crap. Uggghh.....what an abortion......

That thing looks like the bastard child of a Ford Ranger and a Honda Ridgeline.

The popular opinion, in Australia, is they mostly hate the Hilux. It’s cheaply made, drives like shit, has a lame interior, and looks like ass. Maybe it’s got a great Diesel engine option? Maybe?

From what I’ve observed they wish they could have Tacomas.

If anyone is pinin’ after those wonderful modern Hiluxes because you think they have something to do with those “bulletproof” 1980’s rust-bucket pickup trucks Toyota made, think again. They solved the rust issue, but not much of the rest of the pedigree remains. That’s why the Ford Ranger sells well in Australia.

    I digress......

Someone explain this front end to me!!??. How many grilles does it have, and what exactly is up with those fog lights? Can I put my beer on that strange flat area?

Ohhhhh...that’s better. The flairs really dress it up. Nice approach angle!

    Ha. Yes. I agree.

My overreaching point is: Let’s be thankful for what Toyota gave us in the Tacoma. It’s not perfection, which would be defined differently for everyone, but it’s certainly closer to the mark than the Hilux, which, for whatever reason, is held up as some sort of ‘Holy Grail of pickup’ trucks on this forum. I don’t see it. The design has some obvious negatives in terms of what many Tacoma enthusiasts want from their trucks, which is reasonable offroad capability, in stock format, without $1000’s of dollars in front-end trail damage every time you head out.

Good night TW. I need some sleep after all this ranting.
