So thousands to make it look decent and capable?
Could put that dress up money into a Tacoma and make it capable+.

I'd say it looks better than the outgoing Hilux at least, and 2300lbs payload would be pretty sweet.

Here we complained about the big nose and approach angle. Looks like the hilux suffers the same.

As I was sitting here thinking that looks like the hepatitis-A outbreak of a truck, I notice that it does have a driver side A pillar grab handle.

So they got something we lost 4 years ago.

There's a guy in Japan with a hilux that has a hybrid bumper and actually looks pretty sweet.
When i was in australia, i think it was a nissan truck that kept catching my eye, they just have more mid size options all together

Toyota shouldn’t force buyers into having to pick ONE out of reliable, capable or attractive.

Why can’t Toyota gives us all three? It used to be able to, years ago...

They look ok when you replace pretty much the entire front fascia with a giant heavy bumper. It’s kinda like putting a paper bag over its face, but helps a lot.

Perhaps. But I don’t see atttactive on Hilux.

And for all those telling me to sell my Tacoma for a 4Runner to solve all my troubles, I don’t see attractive there either.

The one that comes top-of-mind would be a late 1990s 4Runner.

Hell, pretty much anything Toyota offered in the 1990s was reliable, refined, capable, attractive and fuel efficient.

o_O yeah, you must not remember milkshake those late 90s 4Runner had “reliable” eh?
Toyota only succeeded with a Camry in all three departments at that time, everything else was same as today, pick two.

I don’t want to stir up the old rivalry, but yeah......it was “amateur hour” at Toyota when they came up with that goofy look for the new 4Runners as well. Like anyone, I miss the sturdy practical styling of the old Toyota products. The closest we get to that today is Tacoma (sturdy ‘looking’ front end, though still a plastic facade).

The 4Runner looks like they tacked a goofy plastic robot monster face onto the same truck they made back in the 90’s. The Hilux looks like the designers were on a bad mushroom trip.

My father had a brand new craptastic 1992 4Runner.

Like most, it came over from Japan with a leaking head gasket on the 3.0L V6. A truly terrible Japanese-built motor that is the bane of anyone unfortunate enough to own one. Within a year the roll down rear window mechanism broke for the 1st time. The engine was on its second head gasket by the time the window broke the second time.

Nice looking truck though. Just junk quality.

I hate the look of their international truck platforms. Too tall and bloated... looks like the new Ranger. No thanks

The over sized chrome tailgate handle seems to be competing for who's bigger with the ridiculously huge brake light. And those rear tail lights look like sh!t. This thing has no good angle. Overall NOT an attractive truck. You could probably sneak into the Ridgline owner's club meeting at the mall in this thing and not even be be noticed
