    Hi,
I wasn't able to find anything indicating one way or another with regards to mounting a CVT tent to a ARE CX HD with the HD ARE roof rack on a long bed gen 3 tacoma. Has anyone done this without issue? I am not concerned with the weight because that is why I got the HD in the first place. I am just wondering if the CVT mounts up with no issues dimension wise to the ARE HD roof rack since I couldn't find anything explicitly stating that rack would fit those rails. At a glance it seems like the distance between the roof rack bars would be very wide and maybe close to the edge of the base on a CVT tent. Just double checking since I have to order the tent sight unseen... Apologies if this was covered somewhere, I couldn't find it. I did see this on the ARE site, and it appears to be a long bed.

It will depend on which tent you are buying as they vary in length , I have read that cvt tents cannot exceed a spread in bars greater than 36", when I ordered my ARE CX HD I had ARE send me the distance between the HD bars , they sent me the specs which were 39" apart ( I have a short bed) . I emailed cvt and they said there would be no issue . I just got my topper a few days ago and plan on mounting my tent this weekend.

How long did it take to get the shell?

They are telling me 5 - 6 weeks.

FYI's I just got off the phone with CVT and they said a 44-60 inch spread was ok for the Rainier 3+ person tent. I ordered my ARE CX HD 2 weeks ago and they still have it down for getting on the truck next week, but the shop I bought it at was skeptical.

Are you saying that you ordered the shell two weeks ago and they are ready to ship next week for a total of three weeks to get?

This would be good news for me.

    Thanks

That is what the dealer said ARE was forecasting............. but I will keep you updated if that actually happens.

Initially I was told 5-6 weeks , then ARE had an estimate of 19 days which got bumped back once to 26 days , had it installed 4 weeks to the day after order .

Wow, a lot of moving targets but at least you received earlier than six weeks. I will cross my fingers that it comes in by week four but won’t hold my breath.

Yes after reading some horror stories I was worried, but pleasantly surprised when it showed up in 4 weeks . Will mount my cvt mt Rainier on it this weekend . I had the kb voodoo hi rise bars the last 2 years , and will enjoy the extra head room in the annex , and the extra storage space in the topper . Will post up some pics when I get her on there.

I'm happy with the quality fit and finish, need to work on sealing it up to keep the dust out but that will be a work in progress , especially without a tailgate seal kit .

I searched high and low for 4 months for a used topper, decided just to pull the trigger and buy new , much to the dismay of my wife ..... the price tag was steep . It was $3600 Canadian dollars . But so far I'm happy .

Not sure what the conversion rate is but I paid $2,600 US dollars. I included Windoors which were about $250 more I believe.

The price is high but I am hoping that with the HD it will handle anything I throw at it.

It would be $2680 in USD , but I did not get windoors . Only added the headliner and the HD rack . Cheapest I found was about $2295 but was a 12 hour drive down to denver so couldnt justify the cost savings over just getting it local . Hope it works out for you and it gets there soon

I have the ARE CX HD coming in a week or so and wondering what the consensus is on bed stiffeners.

I asked this to the person that is installing (they do many) and was told not necessary and waste of money even with a RTT.

    What is your experience.

    Thanks

Apparently there are horror stories out there about beds spreading. I added them for peace of mind . Not sure if they do much, but I had my rtt up there for 3 months over the summer with no issues.....
