anyone else having issues with the app loading, or loading, but refusing to allow you to log on with a verified password? I have tried the following.

this is on my galaxy S9+

    1. reboot phone, fails to load app, and gives error message to send feedback, and close app.

    2. force stop app, clear cache, and data from app, attempt login, fail, and send feedback

    3. uninstall app, reboot phone, re-install app, same, loads, asks for login, enter login info, and then it fails, asks to close app, send feedback, etc...

I have jailbroken phones before, run aftermarket roms etc, but never with this phone. the app worked great all the times before this last update to my trucks entune software (slacker radio) required an update. it ran for a day or two, and then just stopped functioning on my phone.

any help would be great. I miss having connectivity for updates, slacker radio (paid for plus service that i can only use through bluetooth control now)...

Related question - what does using the app on your phone get you? Does it open features or make anything easier ?

it allows you to connect through the headunit apps such as slacker radio, iheart radio, and control them using the headunit, and steering wheel controls.. it allows you to use you phones data plan to stream the music, e-mails, read texts sports scores, gas prices, stocks, weather, etc.. they all function through the toyota entune app on your phone.

So that's essentially going through entune HU rather than bluetooth through phone? Do spotify and apple podcasts work?

it functions through the bluetooth link to your phone , entune allows the link for slacker radio to function this way. otherwise you have to control the phone directly (illegal (distracted driving) in my state)..

I have no problems with the app before or after the update. I mainly use it for Waze, Gmaps, and YouTube Music. I do have the Messages permission blocked as that was a useless distraction.

I am on a Pixel 3 XL running Android Q Beta. Although, I do get a message on my phone that some aspect of Entune is disabled until a later release of the OS.

There is no real Waze integration with the Entune app. I just get direction prompts over the Taco speakers. That probably happens with just the BT connection. I have not experimented driving without the app running.

Above, I was just saying that those are the only apps that I use while driving. Sorry if I caused some confusion.

the only thing I can think of is that I have not done a factory reset on the phone.. which would wipe all the old program files off of it, and I can restore (takes roughly 2 hours to re-download, and install all my apps)..

That's really the only thing i can think of too. I have always had somewhat finicky issues with entune/phone integration when one or the other has an update. seems to be my phone most of the time, especially with different phones running different OS/versions.

I really do not see that helping? Usually, the uninstall / reinstall should be as deep as you need to get. Before going deeper, I'd hit up the developer support:

I did have some severe control lag after a phone OS update before the Pandora removal. I was on the OG Pixel XL at the time. The next OS patch update and the next Entune app update fixed that.

For Entune you will need to use the older version Entune (v1.27+). Entune 3.0 does work with the entune offered in the pre 2020 tacomas.
