Adding 10 lbs to gusset a part that DOES break, sometimes under regular offroad conditions/nothing crazy, is too much but adding a Dana 80 is just fine?

You are jumping from A to Z, it's like youre saying if someone is going to do a spindle gusset you might as well just SAS. I dont understand why youre so against gusseting a part that is prone to failure. Not everyone wants or needs a Dana 80, so if you already "braced the shit" out of the front why cant everyone else get that piece of mind? Thats great that you dont need any more than cam tab gussets on your runner, the marlin part is first and foremost a LCA gusset that has the added benefit of wrapping around gusseting the cam tabs for the same price basically

actually all i originally commented on was people putting the marlin kit onto a gusseted cam tab. most only need that.

now if i didnt gave the cam tabs done, that marlin kit would be a nicer start.

but fun fact, 8 months of my truck wait was marlin not finishing a fix on their tacobox that leads to bleeding tranny fluid and blowing your tranny. so i wouldnt wait too long on those gussets to arrive if they keep up their current timeframes for parts...

I recently picked up an 01’ Tacoma with an old Camburg front LT kit, for the rear I’m trying to figure out a relatively simple setup to keep up with the front if anyone has any input or suggestions I’m all ears, thanks

That kit looks amazing. They just came out with a 4.5 for 4wd 2nd gens with a fully fabbed spindle if I’m not mistaken.

that is the simple way and is already custom to keep up.

If you want it to actually outperform the front...you're gonna be into a big can of worms with SUA setup and a bed cage. also custom.

I'd bet if you valved those rear shocks up good it'll do fine for a while.

Would it do any good to combine the current shock setup with a sua?

Not really. You would have to reconfigure the shock setup to allow for the extra uptravel.

Are those shocks re-purposed coilovers without coils? or are those not threads on the shock body.

You are correct, my goal is to reconfigure it for better performance, seemed like the previous owner was more after ride height than really dialing it in

Actually me. My lca mounts are a mangled wreck - front, rear, driver and passenger side. I need gusseting but not sure its worth trying to gusset them when they are so twisted. Anyone here ever cut them off and replace them completely? Where is a good place to get replacements... scrap yard maybe?

I asked this yesterday in here, and also in that thread for the gussets. Didn't get any responses... Im honestly surprised more people don't have this issue. These LCA mounts are weak as shit. I never even really took any big hits, im assuming I skimmed it off a rock at some point, but my driver rear mount is bent back at least 1/2''.

If you don't mind let me know if you ever look in to having a shop take care of it for you... The collision center I went to, to put on a frame rack wouldn't touch it. Frame 100% straight, LCA mounts not so much.

I’m having that issue. I wheel hard out here in Rocky AZ and my steel belly skids don’t cover the weak thin LCA cups from the frame. At least one of mine is also bent & since my LCA bushings are dry rotted & my alignment is now a little off, I have decided that my next step is to have my fabricator Joe (GMG FAB) replace my entire LCA with cheap moogs, while welding on the TC tab gussets and installing brand new OEM cam bolts. If you go aftermarket on the cam bolts you’re asking for alignment headaches from what I’ve read. I’m just holding out to see if marlin will actually release their LCA GUSSET KIT because if I can grab one I’ll sell my un-installed TC cam tabs and have my guy weld that kit on instead. Either way I think beefy steel LCA skids will solve our bending LCA frame cup issues. Along with at least some sort of cam gussets. THIS is IFS. Not a whole lot else to do besides gusset the LCA and put skids over those frame flange cup thingies
