I have plenty of reason to regear. I have a 3RZ I4 Automatic which is an absolute dog in and of itself. I tow frequently, and I am newly supercharged. A higher gear ratio would open up the truck significantly, and be beneficial to me and my purposes with the truck.

This also opens me to running bigger tires than I have currently.

Regearing was next on the list. This gives me a perfect opportunity.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Lol... to each his own... you're going to kill your top end, and basically negate the benefits of supercharging. Aren't you running 265s? And you're going to re-gear to 4.88s?

My son has the same set up you've got (minus SC) - I4, 5 speed, ext cab... and bigger tires than you run. I just drove it from Phoenix to Colorado Springs... it's fine with the manual trans it's just fine with 4.30.

I disagree. A higher gear ratio will help the truck get up and going far more efficiently.

The auto makes it a completely different animal than the manual.

Ya... the manual makes regear LESS needed, than an auto trans.

4.88s with 265s is WAY to low of a gear. But that's cool. That truck is bearly going to be able to get out of it's own way... and you're going to be screaming RPMs at 70 mph.

Everybody who is EAF knows top speed is 55 MPH.

Let’s everybody pass you, therefore getting more looks from non overlanders, and getting you better gas mileage.

    @BartMaster1234

Look brother... I'm not tryin.to be a dick here. I know it may seem like I am being a dick cause I want those gears. (and I do want those gears).

But for real man... who ever is telling you that re-gearing like this is a good idea, they are just plain, downright, wrong.

You just put a Supercharger on your truck to add power. Re-gearing like this is going to take all that power right back out of your truck. You are going to be granny low off the line and your tach is going to be pegged out at highway speed.

    No problem.

I’ve done some research and determined it would be a good fit for my needs despite the drawbacks. I’d happily exchange top end speed for quicker shifts and more efficient power delivery.

Been planning this for a while, and this opportunity just happened to present itself.

Alright... You know what's best. Hope 3000 rpms @ 70 mph works out.

Make sure you don't leave any shop rags in this guy's diffs.

But this time he'll be working on someone else's truck... I hope he thinks that through all the way.
