Lexus Credit Card Key Working in Tacoma

I got my card working today...and while I was at it, I added a smart key to the wife's Highlander since it only came with 1 key.

 

The same part number for the Lexus key should work for the Highlander also if you want a credit card key for both your vehicles.

For those that have had the credit card style emergency key cut, I assume only one side can be cut? Is the Tacoma key double sided? Will a cut on one side work? TIA.

 

The 3rd gen Tacoma key is grooved on one side. Same key size as the Lexus emergency cc key.

How did you try? Doing it yourself with a copy of techstream? Going to a locksmith? New key or used key? Was there an error, or just doesn’t work?

 

New key or used? Are you using techstream and if so does it find and connect to your truck? What steps are you taking and where does it fail at?

 

Hello Sir, thanks for your response, yes it is new key, luckily work for Lexus dealer in the area, so have Master tech assisting me, scanner did not recognize the key card, did match all the numbers and code on both keys?

 

We have had some reports of keys coming with dead batteries. Sounds like that is probably something to check. I can’t think of any other reason this wouldn’t work if it is a new key and you are using a dealership computer

 

I will have him replace the Battery Friday and try it again, will keep you posted on the out come, thanks for your prompt response. H.Q.

 

Good luck. Seems these must sit on shelves a long time and batteries die. It is a little hard to find the size needed. You may need to order from Amazon or batteries plus.

No. You need the part number listed on the original post. 89904-53511 with FCC code HYQ14CBB.

A quick google search and I found many online (including partznet) for sale with the correct part number, maybe check the number you searched and try again?

 

Yea sorry - just being cheap. I found some used ones with the same HYQ14CBB code - does this mean the PN will be the same as well? Or am I rolling the dice?
