I realized this is an observation of a well educated off-road owner. But the average Joe/Jill just see a cool truck and bling, and then buys it. I realize this might annoy you, but dealerships are just trying to capitalize on the truck's current success. Nothing wrong with that.

I bought my truck from Durango Toyota. I have the Same package. My truck stickers right under forty grand. No haggle pricing brought it back down to 36,800. With all the upgrades it was back up to just under forty grand. I think that’s not to bad for what you get. They have back all the old parts. I sold those on Craigslist and bought a topper with the money.

I wish I had the skills to restore old cars (and rebuild them from scratch). I’d be doing the same thing.

Same. I actually tried to find a reasonably priced clean 1st gen which proved impossible so just caved and went new thinking I’ll keep it till the wheels fall off, but just have this nagging feeling these won’t be near the longevity of the 1st gens, oh well.

I think that's the first time I've seen "quality" and "food" used in the same sentence with regards to Applebee's. Maybe they've drastically improved in the 10 years since I've last been to one. :notsure:

When I was in Galax, VA, a while back, it was the fanciest restaurant in town (the golf course clubhouse was the main competition, if I recall). You never know...

I agree with you for the most part but again, please explain how the dealer is “bending them over”? Are they being forced to buy these things somehow?

Paying for your cars in cash, and making money off of them is irresponsible??? Lol. News to me. Dave Ramsey even talks about moving up every time from saving up money is the way to do it correctly. I paid $900 for my first car. 84 mustang 5.0. The number of things I learned from this car has saved me $1000’s

Some of it has to do with selling someone a product that is done correctly and at a fair price. Would you off-road with spacers and blocks?

How many stories have we heard making fun of dealers because they have no idea what they are taking about. They sell this way! Telling people the the car/truck has A, B and C when in fact it doesn’t.

This truck is sold on the radio as “our one and only TE performance package trucks!” Well, is it a performance package?

And I thought I overpaid for my 2019 TRDOR DCSB at $36k w/ 7yr comprehensive...

I would think you could buy a $36k TRDOR stock, and for the extra $6k in upgrades you could go full suspension, wheels + tires and TRD Pro grille easily, and even pay for the labor to have it all installed so you don't have to lift a finger. The dealership is preying on unknowing people with an impulse buying mentality, so they see it in the show room and "gotta have it now oo look it is so shiny..."

I do see an argument for rolling upgrades into the loan though. When I was looking at Tacomas originally, I found a couple preowned ones that I really liked for around $36k that had a good $10k+ in mods that I was considering, and now I kinda wish I would have gone that route to be done with the upgrades and roll it all into the loan. As others have mentioned, sometimes people just want to buy instead of build, and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

Also as others have mentioned upgrades covered under warranty, so if that spacer lift blows a strut you could be covered which is nice.

    C'est la vie...

I don’t understand why people think I am judging the people!!! I am just shocked the dealership is willing to “F” so many people over with pretty parts

Rolling upgrades into the loan was a great point! I have one of those trucks here as well. 4x4 sport with a TON of Toyota add ons. Looks like he went through the pamphlet and got everything. Maybe he paid cash for them, maybe he financed it. But guess what?? His front suspension is done correctly for his truck, and he’s got a little step stool in the back for his grandma to get her out. See THAT makes sense to me. I may ask what he paid to have all the work done and see if it got to $6k

^^ Whole lot of bla bla in that post.. You asked a question. You received a answer you didn't like so out came the ole copy and paste. Bottom line is everyone's "offroad" isn't the same.

Hahaha!! Why take my time to write out a long post when a quick copy and paste works just fine???

And I have yet to get a response I didn’t like. Just don’t agree with, so I post my response. You know it is okay to disagree, correct???

But you do you boo boo with your spacers ;). Hey!!! Go to Escondido Toyota!!! They have a FANTASTIC deal on a TE performance truck!! They will set you up cheap for all your off-roading needs
