Anyone remember what an awesome summer they had during the 1976 bicentennial celebrations?

I was 9 yrs old and spent the summer with my grandparents. We celebrated the entire summer going to parades, carnivals, cookouts at the lake. So much pride in our country back then. Everything was red, white and blue, everywhere you looked.

    Awesome summer!

I had a flip phone until sometime last year, I felt it was about to fail but I didn't wanna spend big $s on a phone. Verizon is America's most expensive network. A friend on mine had to have a new iphone so I got his cast off phone and switched to AT&T. AT&T works in the mountains where my verizon phone didn't have service.

Wish I still had mine. Bent it in half in a wreck. Saw it years later while picking parts at a boneyard. Truly sad.

All those old GTOs were awesome but hey there were muscle cars everywhere you looked back in the day. Didn’t even think they were all that special back then.

I turned 10 that summer. Spent time at my Aunt and Uncle's cottage with my cousins, and at my grandparents.
All of us would be outside all day, and only come in when we got called in for supper.
They had a party line so you had to count the number of rings to know if the call was for their cottage or someone else's.

When the whole family got together at Christmas. All us kids were dressed up, and our Dad's wore suits, and out mom's wore dresses.

A great time, and great memories!

My cousins still go up there. But now they take their kids.

    l feel you pain!!!

    I remember my 69 Grand Prix. It had a Pontiac 428 (370HP & 472lb/ft), and a Turbo 400 with 3.23 gears out back.
I miss that car even 35 years later. :frusty:

True story. Me and a buddy could ride wheelies for days. One day we decided to ride around the block in a wheelie. We started at the same spot, at the end of the block he went left, I went right (Yes, we could even go around corners in a wheelie). As fate would have it, we made it around our blocks at the exact same time. And crashed into each other. There was blood coming out of those knee high tube socks with the black and orange stripes.
