I'm not sure of the air space in the factory sub enclosure is but it might be worth a shot to see if you can get it to sound a bit better. Do you want to just replace the subwoofer or add an amp as well?

 

Air space is “the entire damn trunk” you basically see the ass end of it hanging down from the bottom side of the parcel shelf.

I was hoping that a simple plug and play sub upgrade would get me the bass I was looking for without an amp.

Spoilers: “the bass I am looking for” is really not even that much, I hardly ever crank my music but good lord the 4 poverty speakers in the taco bump harder than this “premium” setup. I just want to get maybe a little better than that level.

Any of you guys know anyone in the electronic music scene that is interested in old vinyl? I have a collection of 110 1999-2004 progressive/tribal house and trance records I am looking to unload. Full inventory list available on demand.

 

All you can do it try it but you'll probably need a dedicated sub amp.
Then the rest of it's going to sound like crap.

Well I would say to do what you do and find yourself the best free air sub. I have a 10% off code for CT Sounds that they just sent me if you want to use it on one of their subs.

 

I will second this place. I had them do my alignment a couple months back (since I can walk home from the shop). They did a great job and it seemed like an honest place to deal with.
