Knowing the Japanese, it’s probably made from whale-oil and they just ain’t saying.

As an aside: some of the most expensive and highly engineered electrical equipment you can buy is lubricated with wool-oil (lanolin), which is produced when they boil wool from sheep. The Swiss and Germans have found no substitute for the properties of wool-oil based grease in certain applications. To manufacture something as complex as lanolin from petroleum would be a major undertaking. Let Mother Nature do the work I guess.

From what I’m aware spicer has made Toyota u joints for a long time. In terms of grease, I’ve always just used valvoline synthetic lithium grease. I’ve never had a u joint fail/issues in a combined half million miles between my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gens. My simple theory is keep them greased up, and don’t abuse your truck.

Ya, grease use and application is definitely its own rabbit hole. Best thing for noobs is to follow the recommendation of the owners manual. Some greases are completely incompatible with one another so, don't over think it or try to re-engineer it!

JFYI, Spicer grease is a calcium sulfonate base grease. It's good shit and totally compatible with lithium base grease. I think Redline has a calcium sulfonate base grease as well.

Anyone ever use Delo HD grease..??
I read it’s the only thing that held up well in real heavy equipment like dump trucks and earth movers etc.
I bought 6 tubes but haven’t used it yet but it’s supposed to be excellent for bearings and u-joints.

I work for a Tier 1 Toyota supplier and have access to some of their specs online. There are several approved brands, but after looking at most of them, that seems to be the magic black stuff.

The MolyKote I’ve used in the past was white in colour (obviously a different product number from them). This black MolyKote might very well be the secret sauce. I’d be willing to try it based on past experience with their products.

Thank you good sir! And if I might ask, what grease gun do you have and how did you accomplish the two zerks on the front shaft that are angled?
