Hey guys, I need some opinions. I’m in the process of building a SBR. Trying to pick out some parts now, and I’m looking for some more knowledge. Ideally, I’d love a Noveske rifle. Noveske is local to me, and as we all know, builds great parts. My question tho, what names are equally as good, without the price for the name? I was considering forking out the money for a Neveske upper, lower and barrel. But I’ve also been really happy with the Aero Precision parts I have on my other guns. For those of you with experience, what do you think?

Than Noveske? I’ve heard good things about BCM.

Spikes, BCM are both good choices.

top two Spikes, bottom BCM. all run 100%.
had a bad experience with Noveske. built a 10.5 300blk out and the upper receiver was out of spec, couldn't run the Noveske lower rear pin in the back of the upper. Noveske took forever to respond either by phone or email. finally got hold of the technical department. sent it in on my nickel. weeks went by, no response. got ahold of the tech dept about three weeks into this. long story short(er) after about six weeks i had the new upper.

incredible weapon, just didn't expect an out of spec upper, nor a hassle getting it replaced.

Dang, that’s quite the hassle with the Noveske upper. I hear a lot about the Noveske uppers and lowers, being extremely tight fitting on those pins.

There are quite a few great companies. LaRue, Noveske, BCM, PWS, Daniel Defense, Knights Armament, ect.

Are you wanting to buy a complete SBR or just build it yourself and Form 1 it?

I went the form 1 route myself. Picked up a nicer lower (a Rainier Arms Ambi lower when Mega was making them), the trigger i wanted, the stock i wanted then built my own upper. Ive built all my uppers minus 2 (a PSA upper and my PRI Mk12 Mod 0 upper) and all work just fine, have been reliable, and accurate. These days its more about just picking a manufacturer who has a good track record and has the features you want. but yo u can easily just do a lower and buy an upper. Just stick to "mil-spec" stuff and not stuff that mates specifically to something (like a brands lower to a brands upper)

Thanks for the response. I’m going to build it myself and form 1 it. I was really just curious if there was an advantage of buying a Neveske or a DD instead over an Aero Precision. In terms of quality. I hadn’t seen any bad reviews on them

Spikes.... They just charge extra money to engrave stuff onto the same lowers everyone else is selling for $39.

All AR lowers are forged in one or two places. Every CNC machine milling them runs the same exact code. "Mil spec" does not mean quality. It just means it will pass the Mil. shittiness threshold.

Buy a decent barrel made from a blank of known origin. Green mountain. Lothar walther, Krieger, Mcgowan, etc. Save your money on the rest of the parts and buy whatever is on sale.

Only advantage would be ease in selling down the road. A person is going to be a lot more likely to buy a DD or Noveske over a home built AR.

Pretty much what I’ve gathered from asking around. I think I’ll just end up building it to my specs and budget, resale isn’t something I’m worried about.

My biggest piece of advice. You will have this for the rest of your life (really difficult to sell a home built SBR). Pick the lower you really want, whether its $300 or not. I went cheap on my first SBR, now the lower just gets passed around as I build new stuff as I've never been happy with it (Spikes lower). Sounds like you want a Noveske, I say pick yourself up a Noveske. Small note on Noveske though, the only thing they have ever made themselves is barrels. They've never made any of their own parts, I'm not sure who's making them now, several years ago it was SMOS out of Grants Pass. Other great high-end options are Radian and American Defense Manufacturing. BCM is also great, not the "cool factor" of the others, but all the quality.

I just submitted my 15th stamp, I know what I would do if I could go back.

Hey thanks for the advice! I ended up picking up an Aero lower last night. I’ve been happy with their products so far and haven’t found a bad review yet. I went with their M4E1 enhanced lower. So it’s got the flared mag well and the machined trigger guard on it. I like it. Picked up an upper as well, now trying to figure out what hand guard I want before having the cerakote done.

What are you looking to spend? I personally think you pay for brand recognition when it comes to LMT, DD, KAC, BCM etc. Not saying they dont make good stuff.

80% lower i picked up. I plan on getting a few more.

Ordered things to make my ar15 sbr shoot 9mm

Eventually I'll get a palmetto lower with the SB tactical pdw brace to have a dedicated pistol lower for it and make it a truck gun.

    Spinta 3.1" barrel
    Spinta 4" handguard
    FM Glock BCG
    FM 9mm buffer
    Endo mag
    Gen 3 PMAG

Just need an optic and I'm thinking sig Romeo 5 when eBay does the 15% coupon to keep the budget build low :D

This will be my 2nd AR9 I've built but first using a AR15 lower
