I am considering a 2019 AC OR M/T from my local Toyota dealer but it has a dealer installed dash cam at $640.89CAD (I'm in British Columbia) that I don't really want. How big a deal would it be to have the dealer uninstall the dash cam?

The truck also has running boards at $821.50CAD which I am also considering having uninstalled.

So far the "Deal now, no trade" with $5000 down and 1.99% financing for 36 months is $43,305 and includes bucket floor mats $167.35, and a block heater (that I want installed) at $455.31.

If I delete the block heater, floor boards, floor mats, but keep the dash cam the new price would be $41,860.84 or approx. $31,395. US....or try to have the dealer knock another $640.89CAD by having them remove the dash cam.

A dealer in a city 2 hours away has a online listing of a AC OR M/T for $42,095CAD before any price negotiation.

    Anyone got any opinions/advise?

    Fresh gas.
    Is that $42095 before gst/pst?
I got mine for $38000 CAD. Same truck, except for no Toyota Safety Sense because its a 2017.

Definitely don't ditch the block heater.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a dealer uninstall anything.

But if they’ll go for that.. I guess get it how you want it.

Yes the $42,095 is before taxes, dealer doc fees, enviro a/c fees, and is in Naniamo. There is also one in Chilliwack, asking $42,199. I am in Victoria. I have decided to sell my '06 Volvo XC70 privately before pulling the trigger on a Taco. Victoria Toyota would only give me $1500 on a trade in. I am going to ask $5000 on AutoTrader.

I will probably get an non Toyota engine block heater from a indy mechanic or maybe after I buy the truck, then go to the Toyota service dept and offer them $300 for a block heater and see what they say.

If you really want it that is fine but I would negotiate down as you can install on pretty easy for a third of the cost.

If it were me I'd ditch every dealer installed option and do it myself. Some of those markups are insane. Dash cams can be had for as little as 50 CAD. A quality one starts at 120. They're beyond easy to install yourself. Running boards range from 150-1000 depending on model, most are in the middle at around 450-500. Floor mats are close to the correct price, if they're a decent brand and not 30 buck generics. I don't have experience on the block heater so couldn't tell you much about that one.

I haven't looked into it, because I have my factory one... but if the block heater is a cartridge style like the 2nd gen one... its hilariously easy to install. Embarrassingly easy, actually. Not having it, especially in Victoria - probably wouldn't hurt resale or anything.

Negotiate it down as far as you can! Play them against one another!
Got mine from South Pointe Toyota in Calgary, but Cranbrook came close on the price and they put pro grilles on all of the Tacos they sell, if that's important to you. Fly there, drive home! It's a lovely time of year for a road trip!
