Will Techron clog my system if the fuel filter is very dirty?

Most every gasoline you purchase will have additives. “Techron” is just what Chevron chooses to market it as.

If you’re concerned just swap the fuel filter.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

    100%

Fuel filter is like $35 and can be changed out in a matter of 30 minutes, or so.

Buy an OEM... They sell them on Amazon.

He has a 4 cyl. it's a lil' harder but how do you plan to introduce the Techron to the injectors w/o changing the filters?

"Will Drano clog my sink if the strainer is closed?" See?

Ok I see, I'll change the filter first, and then use the complete fuel system cleaner that you buy in the store. Ordered an oem filter from eBay $1 cheaper than Amazon and much faster shipping, thanks for all the comments everyone.

No, Techron will not clog the filter. Its purpose is to try to keep deposits from forming on the intake valves.

Do you have "flare nut" open end wrenches for the pipe fittings?

Not sure what you mechanical skills are like, but the fuel filter swap on the 2.7L is a bit of a challenge.

I just wanted to pass on there are two ways members have done them: through the wheel well by removing the fender seal (rubber piece) and unbolting the lines from the filter; disconnecting the fuel lines AWAY from the filter at the nearest joint, then removing the filter and lines as one unit.
Using either method, I recommend disconnecting the lines before you loosen the bracket bolt.

approximately how much fuel should be in the tank during this procedure, or does it matter?
under assumption its same for the 3.4 (as far as tank level)

I'll bet there is a sticky or 20 how-to posts in here on it that will be more help than I'll be. Should be easy peasy lemon squeezy for the V6

Thank you. Mine is the 2.4L, my mechanical skills are not great but I usually get it done. It looks to me like on my truck it won't be easy but I should be able to get it done with a 6 point and extension on my ratchet for the fuel lines. There are 2 bracket bolts, the bottom one may be a fight. there's a tube running close to the engine next to it. Any pointers will be well received.

Are you asking about the amount to mix Techron to or worried about the tank siphoning down when changing filter?
