    Clutch fans are far superior to electrics, unless you lay out serious coin for a custom rig or spend a lot of time trying things that won't work- which is laying out a lot of cash, too. I've been there with the electric vs clutch considerations when putting the smallblock in my S10. I was able to use a Dodge Intrepid fan, but only due to the shape of my radiator being nearly custom-made for it.

    Even at that, the clutch fan works better, it's a simple matter of CFM of air moved. Electric fans have their place- when you have a packaging problem (transversely mounted engine, or not enough space between the radiator and pulley to run a clutch, as in my case)

    No, it's the first gen manual for the 3.4.

    That's literally what is in my truck. I had to cut two holes in the bottom for hose clearance, and it went right in.

    But how many CFM does it move?
    Is that a diesel application? Remember, diesels LIKE to run hotter, so cooling isn't such a concern.

    Mmmmm Wow, that looks impressive, another swap to think about now,

    That would definitely be a great fit for those rock crawlers that are at low rpms and hot weather Or stop and go traffic in Nevada

    I had bad luck with (dual) Flexalite electric fans on my truck, they did not cool the engine well at all especially in 4wd. AC on in 4wd would cause me to overheat almost every time.

    Put a stock fan clutch setup back in and everything was peachy keen again. Can run AC in 4lo on 100˚+ day and won't see temps above normal.

    IMO the e-fans work great on street driven performance applications, but in a slow moving/crawling high temp environment they don't perform as well as the fan clutch. Before I committed to switching back to stock, I read a number of accounts on here of similar experiences.

    I might be going back to stock:

    In DVNP in May 2019, I was in 4HI, 17psi, RTT and trip gear; Transmission temp light came on (the only fluid I didn't change before the trip), shut off truck on the way out of Saline Valley to Hunter Mt intersection for 15 minutes, had to Gerry-rig a funnel out of a hi-octane booster bottle and filled up 1/2 qt. Good until the next day in Badwater basin area and temp light again, except I was at 45mph so there was plenty of cooling going on. After shutting down for 10 minutes to cool, I limped out in 4Lo to the main road then to Furnace Creek and pulled the plug to head home instead of risk equipment failure.[/QUOTE]

    Efans..cool idea...shitty reliability though and WAY too loud compared to the basically unbreakable mechanical fan.

    If you offroad. E fans should never be even a thought.

    also, in my experience, OEM electric fans are far quieter than mechanical fans. (come to think of it, I've had to replace exactly one electric fan in the 31 years I've owned cars & trucks...)

    Let the guy use a E fan. It’s a win win. It’s his truck so if anything happens you’ve already warned him. If it happens to work well it’s another upgrade option for us.

    Let us know how the E fan goes :)

    Good you got the right one. I was going to say you don't want the 2.7 because the fan opening is in a different location the the 3.4. When I did my engine swap from 2.7 to 3.4 I had to get a new 3.4 shroud.
