Anyone have a go-to ding shop near HB? The board I got from my boss needs a few repairs. Maybe I can just solar res them up? I’ve never done a repair with it needing that much glass
One gash in the rail and then the tail is missing some glass.

I know its like 1.5 hours away from HB, but the guys at Aquatech in Hermosa always do a great job. I just dropped off two boards there, and have gotten many fixed there before.

Ended up just picking up my own repair kit and with the help of @Prayn4surf i crudely patched up the rail. Figured the board was free and it won’t get much use from me, so might as well learn how to do ding repairs for the future.
Sanding job and Tail patching to be done tomorrow

Good luck! Patched a small little ding on the nose of mine didn't do a great job as it was my first time. Used "suncure" and its holding pretty well. A week and 3 sessions later.

Just went to take a look. Seems to be alright. I’ll sand it down later today.

I also successfully made all the garages attached to mine smell like resin

If you ever need great repairs, pure glass in Costa Mesa off placentia. I dropped my board and had my glass on side bites delam and a bunch of damage I didn't want to repair myself. They did amazing. Color matched the repair and you can't even tell the damage ever happened.

If I ever damage one of my good boards I’ll consider that place. Hoping I don’t break anything soon though

Sanding resin is brutal, be sure to wear a respirator when sanding

No kidding. At least you reminded me now so I won’t be as irritated as if I was about to start and realized I didn’t have one and then had to go out again haha.

Get one of those. That has organic vapor and fine particulate filter in one cartridge (if that comes with those cartridges). You want organic vapor for working with resin, and fine particulate (pink filter) for working with with glass dust. I can’t tell you how many times I see people wearing the wrong cartridges (even professional board builders).

When I’m sanding a whole board I wear a fully enclosed mask that seals off my eyes/face too. Gets hot, but safety.... for doing repairs, usually it’s not as dusty so you don’t need the full face setup.

But always use a mask for resin and sanding work.
