    Slight idle issue scares me with these engines. It's a tractor motor and it will tell you if something is wrong that's a pretty good sign. But otherwise the price is great for what it has

    :drool::drool::drool:

    I would rock that so hard.

    $15k though w/350k miles, ouch. I guess it's diesel though so that might not be as big of an issue as I think it is

    It kind of looks muted, doesn't help that the 90 through 92 cruisers only had tiny fender flares that were integral to the body. They also have an underbite front bumper that the other models didn't have. 93 and 94 for the sweet spot, 95 through 97 are nice too but their dashboards are fugly.

    yeah I think it's that underbite that's throwing me off, plus it would look better with some black trim maybe around the fenders. Some colors just look better with contrast, others look better without

    It's pretty much a given that you have to do the head gasket on an fzj80 at least once. So it might just be trying to tell you that it's time. But it could be a vacuum leak or an idle control motor problem too. As with anything you start small and simple.

    Like with mine I was planning on doing a head gasket next year well I have the engine out. this is one of the few motors where you just do it as preventative maintenance so you never have to do it again. It was built right during the years where Toyota was experimenting with new materials that didn't involve asbestos. The ones they make now as replacements are great though and last forever. Mine might have been done already for all I know.

    Why are you taking the engine out? Just for maintenance?

    Yeah I want to get the front and rear main seals done. I'd like to clean up the wiring harness too so I can get it all set up for the megasquirt gold box I'm going to throw in there. I'm going to bring its fuel injection system into the 21st century. Figure since everything is easy to reach now is a good time to replace all of the oil cooler lines and seals and to just man up and do the head gasket since it'll be right in front of me.
