So question for those using the remote key... I've been looking at one of those remote starts that you push the lock button 3 times and it starts the truck... Was wondering if you had a key like this, could you program the "trunk" button to be pushed and use that as the remote start? Just brainstorming.. If not, then ill just look for a remote key without the trunk button

me too! other than purchasing a key on ebay and than having i would assume a lock smith cutting it, have no idea what else i need to do to get it to fully work on my 2010. some of the stuff in here is confusing.
and i doubt it if i walk into the dealer with the cut key and say will u program this they will even do it

I had that same question cause my flip key has a trunk button. Couldn’t find a remote start that could use it so I went with the “lock x 3” style.

i messaged a local key repair company that does like lost key fobs and stuff like that. They are mobile company going to run it by them see if programming the key is something they can do.

What needs to be done to run this key, I'm having a hard time understanding. Just buy the key take it to the dealer and have them cut it. Then find someone with a key programmer and get the chipped programmed?

[disclaimer: I'm not an expert but from my experience...] Yes there are three things:
    1. Cut
    2. Program truck to accept the chip
    3. Program truck to accept the remote (lock/unlock)

A good locksmith should be able to do 1 & 2. For 3, see here:

Action Locksmith, 10919 State St (just north of Harbor Freight). Seems like it’s pretty much just a guy who does locks, and he does good work.
