So since this TRDORDC was new in 2016 I average 16 mpg. After OVTUNE I average 17 and as the factory Goodyear’s wore down I could get 18 on tank average. About 5000 mi. Ago I put on Falken wildpeak at3 265/75/16 tires and expected a mileage drop and it went down to 15 to 16 mpg tank average. But now it’s down to 14...
I have 43,000 on the truck and keep up on service.
First I checked the air cleaner for fowling but looks really clean so not sure why I’m experiencing even more loss. The air pressure is the same, my driving habits are the same and I travel the the same route daily...
    Any thought..?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm surprised you've been getting such low MPG in general even with stock tires. I drive uphill both ways from work to home everyday and still get 21-23mpg sometimes on stock tires.

Did you put E or SL load range tires?

I expected a mileage drop but not to 14.
    I can live with 16 to 18.
    For reference I’m on OVTune 1.03 91oct.

Yes, I drive up a up and over a mountain and the bottom where I work. I must then drive back up and down said mountain to go home.

You should update to 1.05. A LOT has changed since 1.03

I logged my miles and divided the gallons for over a year and in mixed driving conditions my overall average is 19 mpg.
That’s with the oem tires and under the 2yr Toyota care servicing.

The computer would pretty consistently report higher tank averages than doing the math.

Trying to get good mpg is tough, it’s a combo of driving habits, traffic conditions, idling time and good maintenance.

Strange, I average 20-21 mpg on 87 octane, 285/60/18 BGF Ko2s D-rated tires, and in mixed driving situations. How fast are you going on the freeway? Anything over 65 mph+ will take a toll on mpg.

Usually only 70 which is the posted limit but sometimes faster. The thing is I haven’t changed anything but the tires and knew I’d get some drop but after settling in on the the new norm it dropped another 1 mpg.
    Just seems awfully low.
    Going to try 1.05 soon.

My first thought would be to get the birds out of the air cleaner! Then, do a plug change and MAF cleaning and see where that gets you.

Not sure I need plugs yet but it’s possible.
Thought about the MAF sensor though.
    Air cleaner checks out clean.

So larger contact patch and heavier tires had no effect on your mpg, sounds impossible besides defying the laws of physics.

Your taller tires throw off the odometer. I’m not sure if that can be altered in the computer at all.

There are only a few things that would have a mild negative affect on an otherwise healthy engine and not throw any codes: plugs, MAF, ECU, 02 sensors. I would agree that you should not need plugs or, certainly, 02 sensors. You might try and reset the ECU and see if that changes anything (force it to relearn).

What is the air pressure in your tires? When i had 28 psi in my stock tire 19 mpg but when i up to 40 psi. I get about 21 mpg now.
Dont know about your tires but i believe 50 psi cold is your max. You should be around 40 psi for normal driving.
