Apple Carplay update 2019

That’s literally how he told me it would take so I left after an hour and came back later in the morning.

 

It probably sat there for awhile before they started to update the deck.

 

I was able to speak the Right Toyota Service Manager later on in the day about cluelessness of the service writer. He stated that they are told to input the Vin to see if you get an update or not and currently is only for Entune 3.0.

 

No there aren’t. No one has cracked the encryption on the HU yet, so no way to “port” anything custom to it. That pic is from an aftermarket plugin device, $500 will get you a box you plugin to the HU that gives CarPlay support.

 

Yup. That is exactly what I was talking about. Maybe port wasn't the right word, but . . .

You can get Apple Carplay. It’ll just cost you a new 2020 Tacoma.

 

Has anyone taken a head unit from one of the upgradable vehicles and put it in a taco?

 

Just so I can determine if I should stop watching this thread or not. Does Carplay mean that it would alternately support Android Auto, or is it ONLY Carplay that might get loaded?

 

That is what I am mainly looking for myself. My feeling is that if CP is ever loaded, AA will happen also? The fact is that there are way more Android devices out there but will concede that iOS drives the market.

 

The update is not available for the 2018 Tacoma nor are there any plans on launching an update for any additional model vehicles without the Entune™ 3.0 platform. There are also no options to install an upgraded Entune™ head unit in the vehicle post-production.
