I've done everything except for the tranny. Nervous after reading the horror stories on here after changing fluid. No way I can afford to replace trans if the new fluid fucks it up.

    They do have a non-ABS version of the 01-04 - http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/toyo...imate-rear-wheel-bearing-kit-without-abs.html

Manual trannys are just as easy as engine oil. Just make sure you take off the fill plug before the drain plug and your good to go.

The horror stories I'm assuming are of autos since I've never heard of any

Change the fluid. The horror stories are for automatics. Manual will love you for changing it. Also check the shifter bushings, they are probably shot. You can get new OEM or even better, get the Marlin ones.

I highly recommend Red Line MT90 for the trans. I put it in my truck and it shifts beautifully, especially after changing the shifter bushings.

    Okay the difference is ABS.

First off. ALL ELOCKER HOUSINGS ARE ABS HOUSINGS. So you need to get bearings for ABS regaurdless of if your truck has ABS or not. The axles themselves are just setup for it.

If you don't have an Elocker, you need to know if you have ABS or not. If you don't Get the bearings that don't go with ABS.

Non-ABS, with e-locker. I do have the ABS ports, just blocked off. So I need the ABS kit either way. Thanks Monte!

Correct! You need the ABS ones. Your axle will have tone rings too likely install, but you don't need new ones or even have to put them back on if you want. Up to you.

So I'll just order up a couple of these kits from Low Range - http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/toyo...imate-rear-wheel-bearing-kit-without-abs.html

And order an extra set of the wheel bearing collars. That should work, correct? Cheaper this way i think, $180 + $24 for the extra collars from Amazon (OEM Toyota) vs $240 for the full ABS version with the tone ring and extra collars included. Same parts otherwise.

No. That kit is for No ABS. The bearings are a bit different.

Ask @jubei I believe he found out the hard way.

Gotcha, that's what I wasn't sure about and why I originally asked about the bearing parts numbers. There was no explanation for the different #s that I could find. But this would explain it perfectly. Thanks again!

I've actually had better luck with the Amsoil varient rather than the Redline MT90 but thats likely personal preference. Just as long as its GL4 you're good.
GL4 is hard to find in store anymore but it is important you use it VS GL5

Part of paying someone else is not having to put up with the mess. Only work I had to do was drop them off and pick them up 2 weeks later.
