Yeah, about $20 for a qt off Amazon of the MT90. I'm sure the Amsoil stuff is just as pricey. Either will work wonders tho.

I think there is a washer but I never replaced mine when I changed the oil. No leaks still.

and yes I'd replace the crush washers while you're at it, a lot of people don't and I'd be lying if I said I always do it, but it's good practice and they're cheap.

    Stuff. Also things.
The issue that Brett @Squeaky Penguin and I ran into was due to using the chromo axles from Low Range to replace the bent stock axles. They advertised them for all 1st Gens, but they only work with bearings from the early 1st Gens due to a minor machining difference. We both just had to buy the early bearings and they worked great with the chromos.

So, does that mean the later bearings won't work on the stock 1999 axles I have? I just ordered the Low Range bearing kit which they have as 01-04 but was the only one for ABS.

    Those bags are sweet.

Although redline is good, most independent oil tests show that amsoil is a superior oil.

    Here's one for example: https://www.lastgreatroadtrip.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/gear-oil-comparison.pdf

OK, further digging and I found the same kit for the early trucks listed on the Marlin site that Low Range has for the '79-00 Hilux & Tacomas. Marlin specifically states that the kit can be used on either ABS or non-ABS axles. So I just got off the phone with Low Range after changing my order to that kit, therefor saving myself $110+change.

This is the kit I am getting - http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/toyo...ultimate-rear-wheel-bearing-kit-per-side.html

The difference in the bearings is that one is for ABS and has an additional lip for the tone ring I guess.

How many advertisements have you seen for Amsoil & Royal Purple. Now how many advertisements have you seen for Red Line (Before they were bought out)?

Its alot of marketing and oftentimes these independent labs have corporate interests. Not to say they skew results but Ill digress.

I think the majority of the great oil information comes from the oil manufacturers themselves trying to promote their own product. Back when Dexos standard came out everybody was scrambling to disprove the need for LSPI protection or timing chain protection. Then they realized they needed ot shape up or ship out. So they went through the certification process. The white papers released by some of the major companies (Exxon and SPOUS) are very good reads and should really let you rest easy at night with any major name brand top tier synthetic (Even Group III's).

I will read through the gear oil article a little later when I have a moment as it seems very interesting.

    No shit! o_O

The guy at Low Range talked to one of the techs there and confirmed that kit will work for my truck without the ABS but in the ABS axle housing (with e-locker!).

    4 run, 2 don't
In the last month a whole ton of things -

OME Dakar Leaf Springs with Wheeler's bump stops, front Fox 2.5 coil overs, rear Fox 2.0 smooth bodies only to be replaced by Bilstein 5100's a week later, BPV relocation bracket kit, radiator with new coolant and new transmission fluid.

    Today -

Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 235/85/16 skinnies, Whiteline LCA bushings, and 555 lower ball joints, and finally a car wash. Truck has not been washed since I first bought it.
